Just finished a new build.

Reading the manual on X299 dark, it said before you do anything, try a Bios update.  When I booted the first time, I was able to get into the Bios screens.  I have a monitor plugged in to HDMI on a GeForce EVGA card.

I searched for a Bios Update on a different computer, and got EVGA's Download Center showing 1.08 Bios update available.  I downloaded to a jump drive and did the update.

Now when it boots, it beeps two or so short beeps on 9C, five long beeps on D6, and then stops on A9 on the motherboard. The graphics card fans are spinnin, but sometimes one stops (the one closer to HDMI). But I can't get back into Bios anymore.  There's no signal according to my monitor.  I didn't change anything after the Bios update.

Not sure what to try next. Please help!

I see the 1.19 Bios available on the Forums... I downloaded that after the fact.  Going to try booting with alternative Bios and loading that.

On Bios2, I was able to get into Bios.  I updated to 1.19, and got almost the same behavior and am unable to get into Bios again.  I say almost, because it went through the boot sequence on the mobo... then turned off and rebooted again.  On the second boot it does the beeps and stops at A9.  I did a CMOS reset, resulting in same.

My only hard drive is an M.2 drive that doesn't have an OS installed yet.  I'm wondering if I should configure the default Bios for that drive before updating to a new Bios.  I have one more Bios to go before I'm dead on all three.  Looking for professional suggestions before I'm out of options.

Update... Tech support's best theory seems to be that I must have flashed with older Bios than what shipped on my board... and maybe that's why the Bios's died. Bios 3 never booted and stopped at A0, so my third chance to have good Bios failed, too.  I tried to be good, but apparently I should have skipped the Bios update.  Damn.  EVGA is sending a new Bios chip. (thanks, evga)

Always have one good BIOS that works and do not touch it, ever.

You should test any new/other BIOS in another BIOS switch position other than the one that works.

You can do that by:
1. Boot using a working BIOS (either into Windows or BIOS)
2. Then slide the BIOS switch to another position
3. Then continue with the flash as described in the directions on the download page

That way, the only BIOS to get flashed will be the one that the switch position is in and will leave the working one untouched.

Now what you can try if you want to is after replacing the BIOS chip EVGA's sending you is to note the BIOS version it has that works.

Then grab that BIOS from the EVGA Download Center.

Then boot your PC (either into Windows or BIOS) using the new BIOS chip with the working BIOS.

Then put your old BIOS chip back in while your PC is on and running.

Then flash it with that working version the new BIOS chip has.

Then flash every other BIOS the chip has to that working version using the proceedure described above.

That should leave you with an extra working BIOS chip you can save and tape it to the inside of your PC or put it someplace you know that it won't get lost.

There is BIOS version 1.20 now as of 12/6/2019 for the X299 Dark, FTW K, Micro ATX and Micro ATX 2 in the EVGA Download Center.

People typically save BIOS 1 as a good/working BIOS and then monkey around with the other one/s on dual/triple BIOS boards.

Try CLEAR cmos, you already did / try booting using DVI monitor cable. Try reset button 40 seconds after powering on. I've also problems with monitor getting picture in bios screen but figured it out that it was monitor issue.

If the problem persist after receiving the new bios chip. List your specs and try booting with only the cpu (1 stick of ram) nothing else (to confirm that you can access bios). If post doesn’t stall and no beeps then start adding your parts 1 at a time while booting after every new part.

Great advice.  I've never had a board in a multi-BIOS configuration, and it seems like an awesome capability to have... especially for overclocking.

I love the idea of ending up with a backup BIOS chip.

I did confirm I was loading from a FAT32 jump stick.  Actually a USB multi-card reader off a microSDHC card in an SD adapter, specifically.
I did NOT try using a DVI monitor cable, as I don't have one handy.
