what are the changes in the new microcode?
is it possible to switch between microcodes?
between which versions are switching?
what is the new profile 8400, how is it different from the old?

wow bios still not working on my motherboard, black screen and error 62, not booting

edit z690 classy

For anyone with the 62 hang, please provide me with the following:

- System specs (if you've posted them elsewhere, a link will be fine)
- BIOS settings (or if you just flashed it and only get this code)

Hi Lee

I have a Z690  Dark
Corsair ddr5 6600 32GB
Evga 1600 T2 PSU
i9-12900KF
Asus RTX 4090 TUF

I reset my bios before flashing and was not able to boot at all. Got code 62
I downgraded to 2.08 and it is running fine except my computer reboots after I try to wake it from Sleep. It did not do that before I upgraded to 2.08 and when I went back to my original bios that came with board the sleep worked properly.

Greetings to all, I'm new in the Forum, I read considerable comments about the Bios according to some unreliable on EVGA Z 690 Dark Kingpin, something rather strange in my experience, since from bios 1.14 onwards very reliable, which allow me to use Ram A permanently -Die G.Skill, first at 7200mhz native and stable up to 7800, and then from 7600, always stable at 7800mhz and 8000mhz cl 34. could it be a coincidence?

I've been getting random hardlocks on every version since 2.05. Everything was fine on 2.01. I may roll all the way back

Z690 Classified-Bios 2.09 Caused BSOD - KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED (both Windows and BIOS Install). After I flipped BIOS switch and rebooted into default, booted fine; reinstalled 2.08 and all good.  Curious if any others have heard of problems?

I had BSODS with the z690 KP and a 12900ks on 2.10.  rolled back to 2.08 and all good.   2.10 is a crap BIOS.

Yup same issue I had. I have same CPU and GPU as you maybe related? But I'm surprised this was not a beta release.

<p>EVGA, I installed the new BIOS on my Z690 Classified. I am able to get into the BIOS menu. I save the profile then attempt to boot to windows. The system hangs on postcode 62. That is two junk BIOS revisions in a row now. If you ever manage to fix the issue I would also like to point out the junk logic the BIOS utilizes when doing a mild overclock. Just performing a mild overclock of raising the all core frequency to 5ghz causes the system to demand up to 1.4v on the CPU. That is just insane, I cannot imagine a single reason for CPU voltage to jump that high over a 100mhz bump.

same issue

Did you reset the Bios back to the Default before you updated it?

Or 2.10
You must have at least 2.05 for that CPU.

I always reset to defaults before updating BIOS.  always.

I can't say for sure if the issue was related to the 12900KS.   I've owned this MOBO since release and have had problems with about half of the full release BIOS so far.   I can say for sure 2.08 works great for me.   I had one BIOS that stuck me in a bootloop and completely borked the BIOS forcing me to use the USB bios port to force a rollback.  (that was a first for me)

To be safe put one of your BIOS on 2.08 and flip the bios switch to test 2.10.

Seems like a decent bios so far for the Classified. Allowed me to really tighten timings on my 6400 kit as before if I lowered pretty much anything other than auto/xmp it would crash. Not magical as I don't think 7000+ on the classy is any closer, but at least I can really tighten the timings at the speeds I can achieve.

Gotta love it. Updated to v2.09 - Now Windows 11 won't boot. If it weren't for the BIOS switch, I'd Office Space this motherboard.

PS: v2.09 is so bad, I can't even run the Windows 11 installer. v2.08 hangs on 92, so I had to revert to v2.06.

2.10 blasts over 400watts at stock settings to my 13900ks during a cinebench run whilst my other z690/z790 boards are using 330watts with uncapped power limits.

Can confirm Z690 Dark gave me issues with 12900K at stock even, XMP  Corsair Dominators 36-39-39-76. Can confirm 2.08 works fine, and Z690 Strix E was stable with this hardware. 1200W EVGA power supply with Windows 11. Boot up stability is horrible with 2.10.... Something went wrong. EVGA please get this looked into ASAP.... I would like the latest firmware, but I tested this 4 times with 4 flashes to make sure back to back it was the bios. Great board, but firmware team needs a bit more pressure, but we are going to be patient with the firmware team and EVGA. I love my board... Just needs work and hope the team can fix it.

I haven't done official testing but for sure something funny about voltage on 2.09. 13900k with minor core clock changes is hitting 90C a lot. Games seem pretty unstable as well....

Seeing the same on Classified.  Even with just 1.275v and -50% vdroop, I hit 485W last night in Cinebench.  What's weird is that if I switch the VCore from Manual to Override, then leave it at Auto with -50% vdroop, the CPU gets 1.305v and then droops but the temps are signficantly more under control (and wattage peaked at 389W).  Something seems up with the power on the board with 2.09 bios for Classy (similar to 2.10 on the KP).  Maybe the microcode?  Something just seems off about setting a manual voltage in relation to the power being drawn.

I will say I added another dual channel kit of 6000mhz memory and XMP worked just fine with 2 dual channel kits. Too my understanding 4 sticks of DDR5 with XMP was pretty unstable before.

4 sticks of DDR5 is very luck of the draw and takes tons of manual tuning.

4 sticks of DDR5 is very luck of the draw and takes tons of manual tuning.

Running 2 of these kits without issue so far. Just turned on XMP and that's it. Until the CPU temps/voltage issues of 2.09 are fixed I am not going to mess with it much. Had to back my CPU overclock down to keep COD/Fortnite from crashing. Windows never hangs or my stream/OBS.

True, i got memory errors at stock jedec 4800 on 2.10 with 12gen, while with 13 gen was ok
this is laughable
seems like EVGA personnel got laid off and there is no people left who writing and do QA
i dont know how EPIC FAILS like this is even possible
i never seen so bad QA and bugs even on Gigabyte

I'm pretty sure EVGA team working hard on some of the issues at hand, I would understand if there would be no movement, meaning no Bios updates you would have a valued point, but I don't think so.

Just flashed to 2.09 and it seems stable, no strange codes and everything working as it should.
