I recently decided to buy BF3, but hacen't been able to get it to run for more than 10 seconds, always sporting the following errors:
DirectX function "device->CreateTexture2D( &textDesc, desc.subResourceCount !=0 ? reinterpret_cast<const D3D11_SUBRESOURCE_DATA*>(desc.subResourceData) : 0, &texture->m_texture2d)" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DRIVER_INTERNAL_ERROR: An internal driver error occured.. GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti", Driver: 30697

DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DRIVER_INTERNAL_ERROR: An internal driver error occured.. GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti", Driver: 30697

So far I've attempted adding more virtual memory, running on older drivers, overclocking CPU/GPU, underclocking CPU/GPU, clean installs of Directx 9 and 11, Punkbuster, Realtek Audio drivers,  Battlefield 3, and the newest Nvidia drivers (306.97)

Specs are
AMD FX-8150 running at 4.2 GHz
EVGA 660ti
16GB Corsair Dominator
Windows 7 installed on 32GB Crucial SSD
Origin, BF3 and everything else on a WD 2TB HDD

Would be awesome to get this game running.

    Welcome to the EVGA forums

Please post your monitor and screen resolution

Currently -the- suggested driver for a 600 series card and BF3 is 306.23
Installed in "Custom" mode using the "Perform a Clean install" function.

If your using a SSD for your OS C:/ drive, please set your page file to 1000mb

The error you are reporting is most often caused by the use of programs that use a OSD or "on screen overlay"
If you have Precision or Afterburner installed and have enabled the OSD, please Shut Down and then uninstall the program (and answer NO when asked to save profile data). Reboot and test BF3 without the program installed.

This error can also be caused by using a browser in "tabbed" mode, where open pages are loaded.
With Battlelog open, close all other open tabs -before- launching the game.

Try resetting the Page File, uninstalling Precision (for testing) and dont have open tabs when launching out of Battlelog

    Please report back your results

Still getting the same error after clean install of 306.23 and uninstalling EVGA Prescision. Only have chrome open Battlelog and immediately close it once BF3 launches. Screencap shows all programs running on launch, along with the error.

Monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster C23A750X, running the game native at 1080p using the recommended settings.

Tried through the installer found within Origin, no effect.

Leave battlelog open in the background, do not close it

Did you change the Pagefile to 1000mb? this is -critical- as you are using a SSD, and a 32gig one at that.

Have you made -any- changes in the NVCP?
If you have made any changes from defaults. please hit the "RESTORE" button in the 3DSettings panel and then hit APPLY

I want you to try the below settings -every one- exactly as shown, for testing

Please report back after trying the above, and dont forget to change the pagefile size.

Lets see what the above testing shows

Dont think about re-installing the OS, thats NOT going to help

If that does not work, it is probably your overclock that is causing the problem.
BF3 is the best program for testing overclocks that I know of, as a system might pass every benchmark, LinX stress testing and Prime... yet -fail- in BF3

I just found out that Planetside 2 even in current beta state is very good for stability test.  Game runs very stable with almost constant 98-99% GPU usage at max boost clock, and power usage is above 110% close to 120% (set to 135% in Precision).  BF3 is still buggy even after all this time and may crash on its own.

Thanks, using the setting you supplied along with restoring clock speeds to default appears to have done the trick :D

Funny though how I can edit/render HD video and play just about any other game with no problems though, appears I need to make separate profiles for BF3 and everything else :(
    Is BF3 just that finicky?
