Well even high end air coolers are quiet... much more quiet than the stock cooler, much cheaper than the OMNI and they can handle > 1.1v overclocks.  Then again, the stock cooler can too in the right case so I bet the OMNI can.  I wouldn't get one for my GTX 480 since I want to overclock with E-LEET.

Why would OCing with E-LEET stop you from getting an OMNI for your 480?

I should have been more specific.  I want to overclock as much as I can without using a custom water cooling loop or extreme cooling.  And E-LEET allows you to overclock much further (higher voltage settings).  I expect some air coolers might do better for overclocks like this.

Show us something above 800mhz with 1.1v+. It will choke. It's useless for o/cing I can tell you that.

Not everyone is into high OC'ing results. They just might want something quiet along some OC.

Tweaked

Just wanted to give you guys an update.  I have now OC'd my vanilla GTX470 to 800/1600/1800 with no voltage adjustment, and my idle temp is 27c, and max temp after 10 min of Kombuster was 61c, and it was stable folding all night.  Very pleased so far.

Once again, an absolute statement that is nonsense.  The clocks that Tweaked managed to achieve are pretty darn good IMO.  No, it's not a 1.1v+ change, but does that really matter?  There's always some naysayer around that can do it faster, cheaper, and make it look a lot better...just ask him.  He's done it so much better than anyone.  NOT!

i just got the OMNI today for gtx 480 and hooked it all up.  i am trying to simply get a feel for how this product performs before i post a review.

i want to ask for the two others that got them as well.  is the pump loud at idle?  mine makes a whiney hum that is annoying me and it is louder than the stock cooling solution the gpu came with at idle.  of course at load this product performs in terms of noise levels over the stock cooling but i am so far dissapointed at the idle noise levels of the pump because i can hear this whine / hum accross the room.  the pump is louder than the corsair H50 cpu pump as well.

Hmmmmm. When i first installed the OMNI in my system (as-is with stock fan) i didn't hear anything from the pump. Mind you my system is  slighty loud with all my fans. I also tried unplugging some of my fans if i can hear anything from the pump. I tried putting my ear to it and nothing. Sorry to hear this. Best guess is to check the the cables (pump and power cable for the fan) attached inside the pump. Does it look all messed up or anything look kinda look abnormal in there? Hope you get what i'm saying.

i inspected the unit before installing it and it looked fine to me but i did not anything apart on it.  you did not hear anything from the pump even when putting your ear to it?  i heard the pump as soon as i turned on the system.  the performance is good so far.  it sits at 42c and tops out at 84c in furmark after a 30 min burn test WITH 800 / 2000 clocks at 1.063 voltage.

well here it is installed.  i am wondering if maybe the fan connector on the evga classified motherboard isn't sending enough power to the fan or something.  it is the AUX-labeled connector on the board and it is not controllable in the bios so i assume it runs at full power like the SYS-labeled fan connector that runs the H50 corsair pump just fine.

Mine makes Zero noise.  My system is really quiet, and sometimes, I can't even tell if the system is on.  I would call Coolit.  Their customer service is as good as EVGA in my experience.

Nice temps, I like this.
However here is my dilemma, Im trying to help my cousin get his temps down on his 470 sli and 930 @ 4ghz. He would like to buy a couple of these coolits & a H70, however at that point wouldn't it be more cost effective to just build a full loop?

Yes, you could build a full loop for about the same price, but there are a few other considerations.  With a custom loop, you have to worry about maintenance, and proper setup.  Also, if you get one of the OMNI SLI versions and a Vantage for the CPU, you can get the Coolit Maestro software to control the fan speed, cooling profile, and lighting options for both the Vantage and the OMNI from within Windows.

Sweet!

Re:Are you guys ready for this? (Amazing) 2010/09/30 11:53:37 (permalink)
"Let me do it so you guys don't ever have to"

I recently had my OMNI set as a push/pull  (w/ SLFEXG fans) when  both my 480's
were running 8x/8x on my x58 SLI board.  Now i reported that i saved about 2c-3c (47c !!!) when playing Bad Company 2 for about 20 mins on this set-up. I also said the OMNI pump was blocking the push fan.

Awesome temps in my opinion anyways.

So i decided to mess around with my OMNI and see if can manipulate the pump so the push fan is not obstructed, so here is what i did:

I did this first, but i think i read somewhere, for water cooling, the pump should be below the reservoir and /or the radiator (WC guru's can clairify this, and not sure if it applies to closed system water coolers).  So i didn't even turn my computer on.

Then i did this:
I put the pump on my Sycthe Kama Bay intake fan. The pump didn't quite reach it so i had to put a shroud on to the intake fan so the pump can be secured and mounted on the Kama Bay. Don't ask how i did this, i did it myself and it was a pain in the ass.

After all this, i saw a temp decrease to about 1c  LOL! DOH!  I played BF:BC2 for another 25-30mins and temps stayed at 46c (98% of the time) and hit 47c just for a sec. BUT remember, my second 480 (stock cooler) is now closer and giving off lots of heat. The OMNI is cool!!! (pun intended)

So there you go, no need to mess around with the OMNI , let an idiot like me do it for you so you don't have to

This strikes me as really inconvenient to install, is it as bad as it looks? How forgiving is that tubing when you are trying to bend everything in to place?

DUAL- composed or consisting of two people, items, parts, etc.

@argh_sli
Well i guess it kinda shows that pump doesn't really block air flow if you are adding a push fan.

@thor88
No, the OMNI is extremely easy to install. I'm just doing alot of stupid and unnecessary things to it. As for tubing, the tubes that connect to the GPU are pretty flexable but the ones on the pump are little more stiff.

Hehe, i like to fiddle. I have it back to the way it was. But i now have the OMNI mounted as a front intake in my 800D. It's still push/pull with the SFLEX-F's. It helps the temps a little bit too, but system/temps and CPU temps a slight affected. Nothing bad though, i have lots of exhaust fans, its all good. Oh, and no leaks yet....
