No textures on the bottom. I do have an idea as far as textures, and that would be to solder one of those enzotech northbridge jammies on the bottom.

Nice! I like that idea.. I've been toying with the idea of doing that actually.. I wonder if my mother would let me. It would be a project after all. Hmm.. Definitely interested though Nate, great work. That 2000 grit looks amazing. Can't wait to see results.

Sweet work Nate! On the idea of selling them, of course make sure they perform well before selling them (but you probably already thought of that )

hummm.... considering the amount of time it takes to lap... I will try to calculate that. Besides, when you lap something yourself, you tend to take more pride in it. Who am I to take that away from potential buyers?? Standby for pictures later this evening!

eh. -50*C is ok for DICE. Remember DICE sublimates at around -78.5*C so around that temp would be more ideal. But looking at it positively, subzero is still subzero. And for a super quick job, not bad, not bad at all. Just fyi, this will be worthless for ln2. With such little mass and little surface area, the temp swings on this would be ridiculous, and impossible to control. But for DICE, not bad. That temp is in the bios, so idle. What about load? That's where it really counts. EDIT: Lets see some pics of the actual setup Nate.

Thats wild stuff :O I have never heard of this before, so what I am getting from this is that this DICE is made for temporary, extreme cooling to see how high of an OC you can get? I mean, this is not something that you can drop on your gaming rig, do a huge OC and do an all nighter in Crysis or whatever graphics hog game, correct?

heh... I dont play around with condensation. I always do overkill. pays off in the end. msmith... to answer your question yes, its VERY temporary. You have to constantly monitor the temps.

I figured you got some regular silicone paste and added some ground up diamond to it or something.

Halo_003 Do you think 1/4" would be alright for thickness? 1/4" for what? Thickness of the pot's outer edge? That would be ridiculous. For the insulation? That would be too thin IMO - 1/2" at the least. You know, the 2" he said is probably the diameter of his pot...1/4" would be way too small for diameter of a DICE/ln2 pot.

Ya, actually thinking about it, 1/4" is not ridiculous, it actually should be nice. It will give you more mass, so more temp control (not that you have much with DICE). For height, with DICE, more height = more capacity, which in turn means less refills of DICE. The DICE pot i have is 9-1/4" tall, 2-1/4" diameter, and 1/16" walls. The majority of my pot is aluminum, with the base being solid copper.
