is the ICX technology really worth the premium over the regular SC Black Gaming Edition?

Honestly?  I don't believe so.  The cooler and thermal pads will make the difference.  The asynchronous fans are OK, but limit you to using EVGA Precision to make them work.  Where with the SC Black, you can use MSI Afterburner as well.

Read this thread I started a few weeks ago...might be enlightening:

Well I only use Precision so I guess the extra $20 might be worth it.

With the SC2 you get not only the iCX cooler, but the technology including the LED lights on the lit panel, as well as the ability to monitor all the zones in the card.  I have the 1080 SC2 and the card is incredible.

Is it quieter because it has asynchronous fans? My case has no windows so I won't be able to see the LEDs.

In a lot of ways, this "Elite" program pushes me out of favour already - though I like EVGA's product line and intend to get a card, I haven't bought a new desktop in quite a while, and have only been on their forums a few months.

I think a better option would have been to make the FTW3 with a removeable fan shroud; thereby offering the other 5 shrouds in the box with instructions on how to swap it out.  That way, anybody could do it with their card if they wanted.

Is that information on eu site correct, that the EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2 has 2 times RGB lightning?

+1!
With all of the RGB LED's and tempered glass cases, this just makes sense (IMHO of course).

EVGA 1080 Ti all version on Amazon
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y15DWXR
FE from Amazon 699.99 in stock
FTW3 from Amazom 779.99 - Order now and we'll deliver when available
Probably in the middle of May.
If Newegg and BH begin to offer them in May, I think that the Amazon will do the same.

Why is the SC Black more expensive than the FTW3, surely their prices should be swapped around? I'm not understanding why the FTW3 is so cheap, and people are saying it will be that price when released... seems like too much of a bargain

It would be a shame for the lovely FTW3 corner green LED to be hidden by the PCIe cables.. they look they it would overcast, then going round the top you would interfere with the EVGA LED backplate logo

Let's say I choose the SC2.  In the unlikely event I'm not happy with using EVGA Precision XOC/ICX, can I still use Afterburner and have the SC2 basically act like any other generic 1080 Ti (SC Black, etc.)?

That is a different etailer, not amazon. "One stop shop" trying to overprice things they dont own.

Afterburner can not control the asynchronous fans currently.

Do the fans on the EVGA AIB cards not spin up when you're browsing the internet, etc
Similar to the MSI Gaming and Asus Strix cards?

It is rgb for the GPM temp sensors only, the rest of the card is white light.

Agree.  The 1080 release was the same.  I'm sure there working as fast as they can.  Nvidia didn't get any of there partners much time?

The word is that it's unlikely.  Certainly not soon.  Mid June probability, if at all.

No until general availability. Probably in late may or June. It also depends if they are planning a non SC version of the cards. Generally they offer at least 1 non blower style card, but hardly ever an overclocked one like the SC. EU is a little different in this regard.

Would I would like to know is if you pre-ordered from sites like Amazon which I did, that the day I did select the EVGA GTX1080 SC2 TI is the date that will display on my purchase date when I submit my information to EVGA for warranty purposes?

For Example; today is a hypothetical day I pre-ordered a FTW3  on 4/8/17; and then my GPU is released by EVGA on 5/1/17; Amazon gets their inventory and ships my pre-order May 10th, but EVGA officially launched the GPU May 1st. In this case, there was no way to receive it earlier than the official launch release.

What I am saying is EVGA should go by their launch release date when I submit my GPU for warranty purposes IMO, I hope someone can chime in on this. Especially if these Custom TI's haven't even released yet. I have not pre orderd from EVGA via 3rd party re-seller before so this is why I asked the million dollar question. Rest assure though, I won't be concerned about a step up, and i will definitely purchase an extended warranty for this item.

I hope I made some sense to my question. Cheers

The day it ships is your invoice date. That is the date for warranty and registration purposes.

For most replacement purposes we will go off of the invoice date for any purchases, warranty replacements and whatnot. That said if you have a date that Amazon sent it to you that is way later than the purchase date and the date that we shipped to Amazon (which we can see in the system) then we can move the date purchased to the date that Amazon sent the card to you, insuring that you have the full warranty for this product.

Amazon will list a Ship Date and an Order date (invoice date), usually the same, but can be different with preorders. We will typically go with the Order date, but again we can be changes depending on when we sent the card to the retailer.

Ah, I don't preorder much from amazon. Usually I don't get the invoice (960 EVOs) until the products ship. So I figured that meant the actual purchase date would be that Billing date.
