Also, is there a difference between the US and European listed FTW3?

Ones Elite Gaming, the other isn't - is that just a branding thing?

The US version comes with 100% more (TOS language removed) yeah!  ;)

They are pretty much the same except the Fan "cage" has different colors on the Elite Gaming Edition but they have the same cuda cores and clock speeds.

they were sold out about 20 minutes after they were available for preorder. was able to order mine as soon as they went live. but kept refreshing just to see how long it would take, it was between 20 to 30 minutes and it was back to the "auto-notify".

UnannouncedFart
So I got my confirmation email at 10:22am PST on my phone.  I placed my order inside a restaurant and was waiting for a while for it load.  I had to leave, and noticed that the page refreshed while I was driving, so I pulled over and completed my order.  I wonder what time it sold out?

Will they be doing another wave of pre-orders before the shipping date of May 1st for the FTW3?

Well I a new member to EVGA Family member.  My order did go through.  My first EVGA or in fact first Nvdia card I have ever owned.  Back story this afternoon when orders went up.  I clicked on pre-order and lag of course but it went through to cart.  kept on clicking check out but no avail finally it went through I went through the check out process and then I didn't a confirmation nothing after i checked out not even a thank you screen.  I waited two hours and still nothing I even checked my spam folder in my email.  So I call evga on the phone talked to a sales rep. he said that he confirmed that I ordered and my card was checked. But he didn't know if the order went through or not so he said he would transfer my order to another department can't remember which and to call back in a few days.  And just now I checked my preorder status and my order is finally on file so I did land on of the cards.  If I had known this was going to be charged when shipped I'd would of ordered 2.  But I'm glad I at least got one of them.  For first experience it was rocky but that is to be expected due to the situation of pre-orders but they did me right. Thank you

I don't like how people buy something in the pre-order with the manufacturer (EVGA), then trade this on ebay to earn a few dollars. EVGA should somehow block, because I do not who fans EVGA not even signed up to have their own home

There is an easy way to block those users.. DON'T BUY FROM EBAY.. Problem solved, and it doesn't take anyone else wasting time trying to solve a problem that wouldn't exist without people wasting their money on stuff that isn't available.

This isn't directed at any user in particular, just a general observation.  Obviously people are searching EBAY or they would never know they were listed.. Just pointing that out.

I think this preorder session was mostly painless. Yes, the site went down multiple times, as to be expected due to traffic, my first order failed to place at 10:09 and I had to do it again. But, it was still available at 10:22 PST when I got in, so that's fine. In my opinion the May 1st launch date was to ensure adequate stock for launch day, so that preorders wouldn't sell out in 3 minutes.

I'm curious can they tell us how many were available for pre order now that they are gone? I got one, but from a manufacturing standpoint I don't get how it takes 2 months to Manufacture parts for the cards. Just seeing how many cards they plan to have ready after 2 months.

You can be pretty assured that most of the wait time is waiting on chips from nVidia. High spec new GPU core chips aren't easy to fabricate (and the facilities to make them are extremely expensive) and nVidia has to supply all the manufacturers, not just EVGA. Then EVGA has to stockpile core chips that they test to be capable of holding the specified overclock (a process called binning).

After that, the final release date is mostly down to how many the manufacturers want to have on hand before opening up sales. A very small set of preorders would likely kill marketing hype, so they'd want to avoid that. But waiting too long leaves it open for other manufacturers to beat them to the punch. So in the end of the day, most of them will come available around the same time. MSI was one of the only ones out the doors early, and they did this via a smaller, and thus easier to obtain overclock and reference design.

Not sure if this has already been asked.

Does anyone know what EVGA's shipping costs to Australia would be to help know what a final cost would be for pre order?

Wrong section. That would be a general discussion topic so that we can get it sorted.

Re: Announcing EVGA 1080 Ti with iCX - Coming Soon 2017/03/28 23:21:58 (permalink)
I managed to nab a FTW3 today, but MAN, the EVGA website is in SERIOUS NEED of some additional capacity!  It was obvious that the site was being hammered to death.

I was getting time outs and all kinds of errors, and when the FTW3 product page would actually load, it kept changing.  I started to see things get added like the Free Shipping offer, followed by the actual ship date of May 1st, but the most important part, the damned "PRE ORDER" button was always missing and instead showed the AUTO-NOTIFY.

Finally on my last refresh the page came up with the pre-order button so I clicked on it, and waited.  And waited, and waited.  For what seemed like an eternity, and was actually close to 5 minutes!   Which is an eternity when it comes to web page loading times.

Anyway... I was able to add the FTW3 to my shopping cart and check out successfully, but not before the final checkout page crashed on the agreement section, forcing me to reload it, but thankfully all my data was still there and I was finally able to complete the process.  I got the confirmation email/invoice 30 seconds after I completed the order.

Here is a copy and paste of the order date and time:  Order Date:2017/03/28 10:11:31

Based on what others have said... My order time was very close to the time many are suggesting the total FTW3 stock actually sold out, and the product page was changed back to showing the "Auto-Notify" button instead of the "Pre-Order" button.  Talk about confusing!

Rather than leaving people guessing as to what the heck was going on with all the changes to wording and buttons... A simple "SOLD OUT" would have been better than replacing the Pre-Order button with the original Auto-Notify, which was what I was seeing from 10AM right up until I loaded the page that contained an actual link to add the FTW3 to my shopping cart!  I could never be sure if I was seeing a cached page from earlier in the morning, or the actual latest update of that product page!  How about providing an UPDATE TIME STAMP on product pages that are involved with a popular pre-order like this?  Then people would at least know what they were looking at and if it was actually the live page, or an old cached copy from hours or days earlier.

While I am thrilled I managed to get one of these and for such a reasonable price... I was very unimpressed with how crappy EVGA's eShop service performed during the process.  If this had been any other product from EVGA, I would have said "screw it" and bought a 1080ti from another company instead.

EVGA... If you are reading this... Seriously?  Your current web server/site/shopping cart is the best you can come up with?  Its an embarrassment that no doubt cost you guys some customers, who may not ever be back.

If I hadn't lucked out as I did and actually managed to pre-order one of these, based on my own frustration trying to purchase this product today, I would have likely been one of them!

Did you get a confirmation email from EVGA after your completed the order process?

The subject of this email reads as follows:

EVGA eStore PreOrder Number 1234567890 < Your actual order number would be listed there.

Followed by the following text:

Hi Your name,

Thank you for your recent PreOrder with EVGA.com. Please keep this email, as it contains details about your PreOrder. Here's a summary of your PreOrder.

Then it lists all the details.

According to my pre-order email/invoice... I completed my FTW3 pre-order at 10:11:31 PDT.  The confirmation email/invoice arrived in my gmail account in-box at 10:12:00 PDT.

If you have never received this email that contains your pre-order invoice, invoice number with your name, address, product description/number and total price... Then you probably were not successful in actually pre-ordering one.

If I were you, I would contact EVGA by telephone and ask them to check to make sure your order was actually processed and not lost in the total train wreck that was the EVGA eShop this morning!

I agree totally.  When I read the specs on the FTW3, it was obvious that this particular card was going to rely on some SERIOUS BINNING!  The clock speeds are higher than any other 1080ti I have seen so far, and that is going to require the best performing GPU chips EVGA can get from Nvidia.  Who knows what those yields look like, but considering how fast the FTW3 sold out on pre-order today... You know tolerances are tight and yields lean when the card's actual manufacturer is unable to fulfill every pre-order that was placed on the first day the card was available to purchase.  Adequate supplies of the FTW3 in the channel will likely be a lingering problem for the remainder of 2017.  Especially if the card scores as high with product reviewers as I am expecting it to.

Does anyone know if the FTW3 is using a custom PCB?  Reviews on the FE PCB's quality and component choice have been across the board VERY favorable and the 1080ti reference PCB is being considered one of the highest quality/over built reference boards Nvidia has produced in a very long time.  As a result, we may not see nearly as many custom PCBs for this product series as we are normally accustomed to seeing.  Simply because the TI reference board is that good compared to a typical Nvidia FE PCB.

If you are running under water, the standard Nvidia designed 1080ti FE is all anyone is going to need.

Not sure if this has already been asked.

Does anyone know what EVGA's shipping costs to Australia would be to help know what a final cost would be for pre order?

Pure speculation, but I would assume to be around regular for a package of such size/weight, that is ~AUD40-$AUD70 depending on carrier and speed of delivery (express etc). I bought (then immediately returned once news of 1080 Ti dropped) a Tian XP and it cost around $AUD50 to ship it from US to here via ShopMate.

Point to note.

It is a good thing I did not wait on the auto notification email because I would probably have missed out on the pre order.

Just FYI EVGA.

My auto notify email arrived in my in-box over 12 hours after the cards were made available for pre-order.  I've not used this feature on this site before, but based on how it performed this time, I see no point in even bothering.
