May can hardly be considered "soon". Does this mean EVGA have come to their senses and aren't waiting that long now?

Need someone's help.. I'm wanting the new FTW3 for my first computer. I've thought about just going with the FTW2 for now then stepping up to the FTW3. BUT, it sounds like the FTW3 won't be available for the step up program. Do you guys think I should wait for the FTW3 or just get a FTW2 and hope it'll be able to step to a FTW3. I just wanna game! I've been waiting so eagerly to start building my PC... thanks for the help.

The 1080 FTW2 is a fantastic GPU. The question you have to answer is... Do you need the 1080 TI FTW3?

As asked by demon09, what is your resolution plans? That should be one of the drivers for your decision. And then there is your budget. Does the extra $$ for the TI FTW3 align with your budget and needs? Is this purchase going to be your GPU for the next three years or so? If it is, I would suggest the TI FTW3.

Clearly you cannot go wrong with either GPU. Good luck!

Kind of like the old adage, Those who know don't talk and those who talk don't know.

Ryzen R9 5900X, Asus X570 Crosshair Viii Hero, 32 GB DDR4-3600, EVGA RTX 3080 Ultra FTW 3, Phanteks 400A Case, 2X 1TB M.2 SSDs.

Ryzen R7 5800X, Asus TUF X570, EVGA 1080 TI FTW3

Same here dude, out of all the GTX 1080 Ti's I think the FTW3 looks the best. I want to do extensive upgrades to my PC, and waiting on this card is halting the process.

Its side LED design will match my new LED plans. It really looks amazing, I want to see the OC performance gains too given the iCX cooler.

Waiting two months is just too much, I can wait till mid April but come on... it's big bucks here and I want to be content on the purchase so I'm like forced to wait lol

I hope so, May is just like.... too far away - they should know how important the Ti drop was and should have prepared earlier... 1 month wait is more than enough (Mid April) ... Not all the way in may...

I am drooling over this card.. I'm coming from a EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX

It's my first PC, I'm trying to make it somewhat future proof. I do have a budget, and my last thing to buy is the GPU. I've just been waiting since January and I thought maybe when they started selling the 1080 Ti FE they would give us an idea when it would be released but nothing.. so I don't know what to do. And all the games that I'll be playing look like they have a hard time with the 1080 on Ultra settings/1440P. That's why I want the FTW3 but it seems like it's taking forever.

Totally understand your challenge. With your added info I suggest you wait for the FTW3. A short period of additional waiting is much better for your long term plans than the immediate needs that are pressuring you into your dilemma.

Been there done that. I recommend you be patient

Where do you get "this week" from? It says mid-March, but no date. That article is 10 days old.

Hello,

I plan to step up my 1080 ftw hybrid to 1080ti. Things is I will be out of country from April 1st to April 28th. Do you think I can process my step up and delay the time I ship the card back to VGA?

Mid march extends to the 20th or 21st depending on how you break it down, which is next week.

Beginning, 1st 10 days. Middle (mid) 10 days jn the middle of the month. End last 10 days. Being as it can be interpretted different ways, which one is correct?

Interpretting that isnt going to help until they give a date, especially because the article was posted before the embargo ended, which ASUS does fairly often, lol.

Wow that thing is gorgeous, love the look of it. Dual 8 pin as well, 280w TDP. Nice. Wonder if it will go live this week.

The Asus looks nice but I'm always concern about cards with three fans sagging. That shot in the bottom shows it sag a bit. I'm hoping FTW3 won't have this problem.

That is one of the things that the new ICX coolers correct. The cooler is actually mounted to the card in more places now, which helps reduce the chance of sag.

I'm hoping that EVGA let's us founders buyers either step up to an acx card of some sort or sells the cooler by itself. The stock cooler gets kind of loud at full load!

Otherwise I'll have to go water again

I always thought sag was due to the mounting points, not the board itself. It's only mounted from the PCI-E slot, which ends halfway down the card, and the rear mounting bracket which does nothing to support the other end. The only solution I've ever seen to cure sag, was to use some kind of support system in the corner where the PCI-E power cables plug in, to give it some lift and support. I was planning on running some fish wire through that corner and up top of my case to pull it up a little regardless of whether it sags or not, just to give it some support.

There are machine screw threaded holes on the end of the GPU where you could pretty easily fabricate and attach a simple support.

I just am waiting for the FTW3 I've spent 3500 on everything for a new PC and am waiting on that final puzzle piece. But man is the wait killing me I've been checking this thing multiple times a day. I don't want to lose out lol my new PC is half Corsair half evga. Gotta get the FTW3 and it's pretty even.

I wonder if the fish wire would end up stretching with the combination of weight and heat?

coming from someone who lives on a lake and tournament fishes, all depends on the line, the more you pay for it the better the quality. In all honesty though I've left poles and reels out in 100 degree heat and I've never had line snap from being weakened or noticed it stretching if any at all. I wouldn't think 60-70 degrees would not be close to being hot enough to stretch with a high lbs Tess line

60C translates to about 140F, but probably shouldn't affect it too much. Besides, that fish line is designed for way higher loads.

I keep one graphic card up to 3 years and than GTX1080Ti is much better for me.
At the moment I play on 1080p resolution, for so small resolution and GTX1080 could be enough.
But I plan to connect PC to TV 4K, some Smart TV have Gaming option for screen and could serve as monitor.
I can set some resolution between 1080p and 4K.
Because TV is over 40" and such monitors are extremely expensive.
Best monitor for me is now LG 38" 39UC99-W 3840x2160 Curved. Flaw no Gysn.

And on cowcotland on a new post that talk about the card , they said the Asus Strix will be available end of March.
