My alphacool block will be here tomorrow. Very excite! Is there a decent guide for removing the existing air cooling block and prepping for water block?
Please try to make some pictures before install... at least the contact area.

Just have a scrub through this Youtube video for a teardown.
Everything in the teardown of this card is really straight forward. The only gotcha part was in taking off the front shroud and heatsink, and how it is attached by screws that are under the fan blades. One screw at the top of each fan.

No thank you, you just saved me from making a mistake of another $400, thanks for the clarification.
After 40 minutes at stock settings, 100% load as reported in MSI Afterburner, GPU is at 2010mhz, 33c. CPU is at 55c in Ryzen Master.
You are making me nervous right now, think I am going to order one(Optimus) when they are available the difference is huge, thank you for the info by the way.

I ordered my Alphacool block from the Aquatuning.us website thinking they'd be the first to have them Available...back on December 15th. Still haven't seen any movement on my order, since "Payment Received"... people ordering from PerformancePCS have them installed already. I chose poorly. Oh...and I got to pay extra for shipping for the honor... Can't cancel now, because I will end up at the back of the line wherever else I go-at least now, I am hopefully near the front of the line :/ -edit- lol...it edited out the 3 characters commonly used to say * My Life? That's some next level *... stuff. *moderator edited it again, because it still breaks the forum rules.*

ordered the 3080 ftw3 alphacool block from ppcs last thursday (1/28/21) and got an email this afternoon with a tracking number saying I should be getting it this thursday 2/4. had received an email earlier this week that there was an "issue with customs and they were waiting for the shipment to arrive" so it seems they got them. praying that its the correct part and not something else I'll be getting so we'll see thursday

Wow, I ordered on the day they were announced through Aquatuning and was told they didn't get enough to fulfill orders and the next batch is 12 Feb. Almost worth ordering through PPCS and cancelling my other order (except murphy's law says I will end up with two!). Cheers Ben bcueto87

My Alphacool order was also delayed until after the Chinese New Year. Luckily I had a backup plan and had ordered an Barrow block from Barrow's official store.
I arrived yesterday and my am I pleased. The temps are just like you have reported with Alphacool. My room temp is 23c. Idle temp on The FTW3 is 25c and temps under load don't pass 45 degrees.
So if youa are thinking og good options for a gpu - block Barrow gets my full recommendations. BTW I got a Bykski block at the same time from Formulamod, but after vhevking both blocks out visually I desided to go with the Barrow.
It seemed better in workmanship quality. It was more refined. For example there was no visual cncn machining marks on the Barrow block. Also the microchannel fins in the block were thinner so there was theroretically more coolin area on the block.

Yes. The standard backplate fits perfectly. Barrrow provides screws and washers to mount the backplate. The only thing is that the 1mm thermal pads are too thin.I used two on top otf each other and that worked fine. Th optimal thickness for the pads on the back would be maybe 1,8mm.

Been running my alphacool block for a week on my ftw3 ultra. Very happy with it thus far.
My loop has two HWLabs 360GTX rads with 3 Noctuas on each. So far, my card stays under 50c while gaming. Never hits 50c in Port Royale either

My build below. I am really pleasantly surprised with the Alphacool block; looks like I might not even need the Optimus FTW3 block after all! Looks really nice too in the vertical mount position. PPCS delivered it about 2 weeks after I placed an order.
