So my rig was in need of some serious attention. I wanted to build a new x99 rig all together but don't have enough cash at at the moment so rebuilding with what I have. Tubing & cable management had become a disaster and there was so much dust accumulation I just wanted to hose it down... So I did. I also wanted to do something about the bare steel interior. The plan is: New water cooling setup with an Alpha UT60 (that's gonna be a tight fit) EK Supremacy, and EK Mosfett block. New PSU cables. Rewire & reroute wiring. Most importantly clean out all the dust. It's not that I don't dust my rig, I do. It's just with 2 cats & a dog it becomes impossible to keep up with. Also, this thing is heavy as hell so moving it around to clean is a b%$&.

First few pics pre-disassemble.

So much dust on those fan blades. lol Where the Corsair fan is, there was another that had so much dust on it it died.

That PCIe exhaust box is the coolest thing I have ever used. When I kick the fan up to high it drops my GPU temps about 5-10 deg.  This is the only case I have ever seen it on. Why are we not funding this?

Some new stuff. I know everyone recommends Noctua, Delta or Yate Loons But I really wanted some lighting so I got the CM Jet Flows. I had one in the back of the case before & it really pushes some air. They're quite loud though, hence the Sentry Fan controller.

Painting. The Dupli-color had nice coverage and a cool texture to it. I bought 2 cans thinking I'd need it, but didn't even finish one. I'm only painting visible areas so as not to interfere with the side pannels, HDD mounts, or motherboard tray.

Radiator Assemble! This thing is huge with 25mm in push pull. Going to be a tight fit with the ATX PWR cable. I'm also using quick disconnects on the rad for easy flushing when needed.

Grabbed a cut to fit A/C filter from Home Depot. Going to try it out. If the fan tries to eat it or it restricts to much air flow I'll pull it out. Also added a USB 3.0 front bay since my old school case does not have it.

Well that's it for now. Still waiting on parts to ship from Frozen & PPCs. Had an ordering snafu with PPCs new web site & got delayed a couple days. I'll post more as I go.

Not much more today. Got the EK Block in the mail. Not going to use the Chipset block. It's sexy but the goal of this is to clean up the case & more unnecessary tubing kinda defeats that.

Hooray! It fits. Was a little worried about clearance. I did have to rip off the bracket on the top of the motherboard tray. I tried to Dremmel the rivets but only succeeded in destroying some bits. In the end I just twisted & pulled and she came right off w/o hurting the tray.

A little disappointed in EK for missing coverage of this lil guy here. I may have to throw a copper or aluminum heat sink on there.

And look what just showed up. To bad my rig is in pieces & I can't test it out proper. I just don't think my FX 8320 and one GTX 780 will do it justice.

Coming along

One season of Parks & Rec and one season of Gilmore Girls, (don't' judge me), later we're leak testing.

A lot of people ask me why I don't use distilled water. I lke the red stuff because nothing says "Hey st00pid, You have a leak" like bright red Fesser One everywhere. Iv'e used both & didn't see any temp difference.

If its only the little key that's snapped off, I wouldn't worry about it, I've been running a WD black like that for about 2 years now . Just got to make sure the other contacts aren't damaged and you put the connector on the right way.

Ran to Microcenter & Grabbed a new one just in case. I'll return it if I don't need it. Gonna see if this one still works. The pins are bent just a little in the wrong direction.

Well yesterday was just full of fail sauce. Started with breaking the HDD. (It's un-salvageable right now. Pins are bent. Might try to solder a connection on later.) Then, after 24hr leak test the pump decides to vomit up fluid. Had to reseat the O ring. Then a brand new bad SATA cable wastes 2 hrs of my time and nearly ruined a SATA port on the motherboard. Tried to get a pic of the cable but it was too small.  It had one bent pin inside the connector.
Ordered some new SATA 3 cables. (For some reason all I had around the house were SATA 2s.) Gonna take a deep breath today and get back at it tomorrow.

It's Alive!

After a few setbacks, it now lives. Still have some tinkering left but over all it's good to go.

Now that's a beauty of a build.

I really need to snag a new PSU and clean up my rig at some point... CRAP

Now I'm all inspired.
