Hello all,

So I have had to rma my 980ti FTW, bought in March of last year for almost £600.

Replacement, a 1070 SC (not even a FTW). A far cheaper card that is not equal in many areas (cuda cores, mem bus, mem bandwidth).

This is not representitive of a fair replacement in many aspects (value, level of card).

Very disappointed and put of spending more for evga cards. Would have been better to insure the card on the contents insurance and got equal value back, not the cheapest card that is almost as good and nowhere near as valuable.

    Jburton80,

I have asked EVGA to look into your case.  Keep in mind that the warranty does state: "Products sent in for RMA will be repaired or replaced with a product deemed to be of equal or greater performance by EVGA if an exact replacement is not available."

I'm not saying what you got was equal or greater performance, but changing the card does make sense.  A second review of what was sent for replacement is what I am asking EVGA to look at for you.

You got an upgrade, but if you want to go back to a GTX 980Ti you probably can.

Here is more info on your upgrade from a user in a similar position to you:

i would dispute that it is an upgrade, especially in terms of the card. From a performance level they are essentially neck and neck.

In terms of class, an SC is not as good as a FTW.

The GTX 1070 is 10% faster across the board, sometimes as high as 15% faster. Moving back to a GTX 980Ti would be a downgrade.

2 more gb of memory, slightly slower memory bus, slightly lower cuda count, higher or equal performance, newer features that arent available to maxwell gpu owners.

Its up to you, but the features and the upgraded memory are very nice to most. The 980ti isnt even able to sell on the market for more than $300 currently, because of the 1070 out performing it. From an actual performance, features, and resale value stand point, the 1070 is the better option currently, but EVGA will most likely help you in any way possible to make sure you are happy with the outcome.

From a performance level they are essentially neck and neck.

Find me one professional review that shows that. Every one I have seen has the 1070 outperforming the 980ti at every resolution.
I don't believe how many people are here complaining about a free upgrade.
