In the Techpowerup review they said backplates will be included in the retail models and mailed out to registered users that receive early models. Heres the quote: While our review sample came without a backplate, EVGA tells us that most retail boards will have a backplate, with EVGA mailing backplates for early cards out after a product has been registered.
I received a 970 SC ACX in the mail today and it did not come with a backplate and I can't find any information on how to obtain one through the mail. When will EVGA be offering the backplates for early adopters? Thanks

Also curious. My 970 SSC ACX 2.0 should arrive Tuesday. Who knows if it'll have a backplate or not. Hope it does.

Yeah I want to know about the backplate too. I bought 2x GTX 970 ACX 1.0 from amazon and both cards do not have backplate! Note: I've already registered both cards on eVGA but there's no option to get the free backplate. Please eVGA, give us the free backplate for early card owners.

+1 Also it seems the headline on EVGA about getting a free backplate with your GTX 970 / GTX 980 was removed?! Something like this was posted on the main website of EVGA (also on the EU version of EVGA): EVGA will also offer a free five warranty for the Geforce GTX 980 and GTX 970 graphics cards as well as a limited deal of free backplate with select Geforce GTX 970 graphics cards purchased before October 20th.
But this magically got removed!! Feel kinda upset, because this was one of the reason for buying 2x EVGA GTX 970, otherwise I would have purchased a different brand (like Asus or MSI) who do include the backplate for free....! And FYI; the 04G-P4-0974-KR did qualify for the free backplates. I still expect to be receiving them from EVGA. //edit Thanks to Google, we got proof! I have taken a screenshot: So I really expect EVGA to back this up, or better said "got my back"...! And here is the link from Google cache: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:bxSwbOQTLcUJ:eu.evga.com/articles/00876/+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=en&lr=lang_en%7Clang_en

Definitely want some clarification on this. My EVGA GTX 970 04G-P4-0974-KR is set to arrive Tuesday. Even though it's for aesthetics only, part of the reason I went with EVGA was the backplate. If they up and say nope on the backplate, that combined with the new info on the poorly designed heatsink is goind to lead me to return it before I even open it. Not cool.... :(

Maybe the found a flaw and have removed the deal until the flaw can be fixed? I really don't know why they would advertise and then remove the advertisement nearly immediately. Very strange situation. Hopefully you guys get your backplates.

Good to have proof of the advertisement. Strange how the advertisement was pulled though. Is this offer no longer running until the 20th of October? Some official response would be nice especially since a lot of people will be receiving their cards today and tomorrow.

That would be very lame. The TPU review didn't specify regions and I based my decision off of the EVGA rep's discussions with the TPU crew.

Well I expect that EVGA "got my back", because the only reason that I purchased 2x EVGA GTX 970 ACX was because of the free backplates (to replace my 2x EVGA GTX 780).

That cached link is for eu, but the reviews that mentioned the backplate never said anything about it being a regional deal.

I read that I got a back plate with my GTX 970 and now I don't get one? What? This kind of ticks me off EVGA. Tons of tech news websites said that you get that and others said there would be a 5 year warranty too. Whats the deal here? I feel like I was misguided. Now I have a GTX 970 SSC on the way with no backplate I guess. Super lame. Fix this. Obviously there a lot of us who expected the backplate at least.

I too read the review at TechPowerUp and it swayed me to buy this card. Not because of the backplate but because it out performed the GTX 780. Though I admit that I liked the idea of getting the 5 year warranty and backplate. I was a bit shocked when after registering my new card I found out I'd have to pay an additional $20 for a 5 year warranty, no mention of free back plate and the deal is only for EU. Not cool at all.

Yes, I hope this will be cleared up soon. As it stands, the whole release of the 970 seems a bit borked from EVGA side. :( (I am a first time customer too).

Well, I got some disappointing news from a customer service rep: Hello, Ahh I see what happened. That page and promotion was actually part of the EU site, not the US site. That would of been a promotion that was only available in the EU. I apologize for any confusion on this matter. Thank you, Brandon B
Looks like they are going with the EU-only reply even though the reviews a lot of us based our purchase decisions on said nothing about regionality. I replied with: Brandon, The techpowerup review I based my decision to purchase your card from made no indication of regionality. Several review sites mentioned the card would come with a back plate. There is a thread on your forum where many US based customers feel they were mislead by these reviews. An EVGA rep must have given the review sites misinformation that was then passed to your customers. I feel that early adopters deserve the deal they thought they were paying for. I would have purchased a different card if I had known I would not be getting a back plate with the card.
I'll post the reply here. I hope EVGA does right by those of us that bought the cards based on the reviews.
