Just checking I’m not being too thick as I only keep one toe in the information about this stuff...

... is the 3090 basically the new Titan RTX card?

What will be the benifits of going for a EVGA kingpin or ftw3 card over the founders edition?

(I have a Kingpin 2080 ti with hydro copper which I’ll be upgrading from)

I only ask as the previous Titan was only FE?

My impression from watching the Nvidia launch was that yet the 3090 is the new Titan.
KPE and FTW Hybrid is water cooling is the initial benefit.

Cool, just making sure I understood it right.

I have to admit I’m not someone that is going to watch the launch video, just tell me which one is the best water cooled one and I’ll order that one haha

Why did was the Titan RTX and FE only and this time round they are making a EVGA version?

How long do people think until Kingpin will be available?

Maybe. Wait until nvidia launches the fastest quadro card. If the 3090 cuda cores match the fastest quadro card then it is the new titan.

Tbh would I be better getting a FE card and water cooling it?

Only reason I went for Kingpin 2080 ti wasn’t anything to do with its overclocking, was just because it was binned and better memory (or less likely to have issues with memory) so paid the extra for a solid card.

Buying experience from EVGA was terrible so has really put me off buying through EVGA... wondering if I would have more luck ordering from Nivida on a FE.

If the option to buy kingpin was there and I could just buy it that would be great but I can’t be arsed with the hassle to beg for one.

I would bet that there will be an RTX Titan A down the line (give it 2 months) for $2,499. It will have 30Gb GDDR6X and ~12,000 CUDA cores. It won't be significantly faster than the 3090 in rasterization or RTX games (maybe 5% at best), but the higher VRAM and quadro-like features will make it better for people who want a cheap Quadro. Also, EVGA doesn't do Titans any more.

The recommended PSU is 750. I have a 1300w PSU so do you think my PC could handle 2 3090's?

You are correct, but twice in the past when the first titan card was released (700 series) nvidia released a 780 ti that had a higher cuda core count than that of the first titan. AIB's were able to take the 780 ti and make better cards than the titan such as the 780 ti classified kingpin. AIB's were also able to sell the titan for the 900 series, but weren't able to make classified/kingpin cards out of them. After the 700/900 series nvidia kept the highest cuda core card to themselves and sold the card only at the nvidia shop under the titan name.

Evga is the best not sure what experience you had but after 10 years no company backs their product like evga.

Go try Asus or another brand, have a problem and see where that gets ha....

its kind of odd, nvidia's presentation was like:   3080; the new flagship.     3090; basically the titan class.     3070 quoted as fast/faster than 2080ti kind of made the 3070 the new 80 class.   impressive performance/price ratios they put out!   nvidia hits AMD hard.     If we get a 3060; that is like the new 70 class.    ; )

There is no such thing as “Titan Class.” It’s just marketing. The Titan is a show of force that NVidia uses to get everyone’s attention and show what they can do when they push the limits of the latest architecture. It’s something you look at but don’t buy. NVidia prices them accordingly. The Titan V used HBM and the Volta core, hence it’s $3k price tag. The RTX Titan was a bit cheaper since it used a more mass produced Turing core. The 3090, if it’s in the same league, is a steal at $1500.

The RTX 3090 is indeed the Titan. In the NVIDIA presentation the NVIDIA CEO cross referenced that video card to this new video card.

No, it's "Titan Class." It's like the dealership has a GT2 on the showroom floor and is trying to sell you a Turbo S.

Can’t disagree that this is what Jensen said and that the 3080 was stated as the “new flagship” gaming card. But if this is the new Titan “ ... designed for researchers, developers and creators” - why all the AIB variants with RGB bling?

As a consumer, to me the 3090 may be the new Titan, but it’s also the new “xx80 Ti”. It’s a hybrid that allowed both a price increase and price reduction.

And don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining. I think it’s a great move and I’m buying the new 3090 and know full well that its excessive and beyond what I need.

Lol. I knew it. 3090 is not the titan. It’s the Ti. So once again nvidia has raised the price of the Ti card...

The 3090 really seems to just be an airquotes titan. It seems like they took what they wanted the 3080ti to be, and further beefed it up in part to get 8k gaming to be a vaguely more accessible thing than if it were a full out titan card, more optimized for actual work than gaming.

Titan is coming. Pricing will be interesting to see.

So 3090 is not the Titan.

I am curious how they will justify Titan this time around. The 3090 already has 24GB RAM so either Titan has 48GB like Quadro A6000 or they will use same 24GB but just slightly more CUDA cores and also they will unleash a bit more professional workload performance like the current Titan Xp/X series has.

So I’ve waited and seen what happened and yes seems they have said there is a Titan coming, so I will hold out for that as it indeed a cheap Quadro for me :-)

My monitor can only do 4k60p anyways haha

Looking at the second hand Titan RTX I’m tempted at how cheap they are becoming.
