Launch day 1 owner of 3090 FTW. Running perfectly fine until I installed the hybrid kit and upped my standard oc by an extra 100mem because it was super stable during benchmarks. Apparently during holidays and covid their phone support is closed weekends now so woooo. Was gaming a few hours after benchmarking. Closed wow, loaded up VR and dead. Has anyone been able to recover from this?

Just installed my hybrid on the 3080 ftw3. All good so far. Idle 22c and max 57c after a few hours gaming. What did your cards serial number start with? 2014 or 2012?

Have you tried flipping the BIOS switch? If so, I would unplug the power completely from the motherboard for a few minutes to see if that can help.

did yours arc when it went?
mine had an audible pop when the system black screened, and then a small flash from someplace under the cover when i powered it back on.

Usually 2014. but we had also 2012.

Letting it be unplugged no power for 10 hours and also flipping bios switch did nothing. Thing is bricked. Can't do anything until support emails be back due to phones are shut off atm.

I was booting up VR, not even an intensive game. Rma has already been processed. No point in trying to figure out what happened since my card lasted 3 months. At this point its a "sht happens" moment.

Mine did the exact same thing Saturday. In VR (HL: Alyx), heard a electrical pop, everything went black, and now have a completely dead card with the same red light. Slid my old card in, and everything is working fine.
Hope to get a cross-ship RMA out before Christmas. Will call them today once they open up.

You guys are hearing "pops"...did you disassemble the card and see if the fuse next to that red light of death blew? There should be a fuse next to a "shunt resistor" under the 8 pin, I think three fuses per three shunts. There should be a "20" or something on it since it's a 20 amp fuse. If one of the fuses looks popped, well that's what blew. Otherwise...well.... hope you get it replaced ASAP and it doesn't happen again.

Hmm let’s say the fuse did blow, what could have caused it to blow and wouldn’t replacing it happen again since there might be a short somewhere?

nope, thats what the warranty is for. im not going to screw around with a new and expensive item. id like to know what the issue was, but its not my problem to diagnose or fix it.

I'm sure it's safe to assume that the cards that have the same red light issue and are nonfunctional, that the cause would probably be the same.

I was using an EVGA 850GQ power supply. And I have one of those voltage readers plugged in and under heavy load the highest I ever saw was 650-700w.

Let's be real, they most likely know the issue but can't speak due to NDA from either internal or external policy. People are super vocal when they have issues, so the numbers aren't probably high up there in terms of failure. We just see failure over anything else.
I took apart my hybrid kit and card in preparation of having to ship it back and did a very close inspection of everything. I couldn't find any blown cap, fuse, burn mark, etc. Nothing was visibly wrong. All thermal pads had indents signifying contact. Thermal paste wasn't all over the gpu chip.
It looks to be just some "sh!t happens" failure. But since there has been other red lights of death, all with no common source/cause, it's probably just nothing you can do to prevent it. Gremlins. My psu is a 1300w gold evga, newer than the gpu.
My gpu survived 3 months and failed when I changed its environment. New location, new cooler, higher oc than normal. Electronics don't necessarily like change. I have had a mobo fail to post because I changed the power supply in that system. It would not work unless one specific psu was in it. Makes 0 sense. Gremlins.
Sh!t happens. Evga has amazing warranty and customer support. They are covering the issue whether they publicly acknowledge it or not. It is super frustrating, but at least we get coverage asap. Any other company we would be selling our first born to get support for an rma.

Failure here as well, same red LED lit as in OP's first post.
I had installed the hybrid kit a few weeks ago, will I really have to re-install the original cooler for the RMA?
