Have you tried updating all your drivers and motherboard bios and windows all up to date? Just curious if you regularly update your hardware bios and drivers?




He(assuming he) not only updated BIOS, but reinstalled Windows prior to the failure.

-Try different display port cables - no output
-Try HDMI - no output
-Unplug/restart monitor - no output
-Take 3090 out, check all cables, reinstall - no output
-Swap to onboard video card and check device manage - no 3090 is detected
-Go to bios - no video card is detected
-Swap 3090 to 2nd PCI slot - not detected
-Reset bios settings to default - not detected
-Uninstall video card drivers & precision X using DDR - not detected
-Try to install nvidia drivers - can’t install because no nvidia card is installed
-Remove cmos battery and 3090 & reinstall - not detected
-Reinstall 1070 - detected in both bios & windows
-Do a full windows reinstall - not detected
-Update bios from September to latest December version - not detected

Interesting, sorry to hear your gpu failing again. Heres to hoping you are able to get a good one soon.

Just sent my 3090 ftw3 ultra in for rma after swapping it to the hybrid cooler. It had been running for almost 2 months with the air cooler and it lasted about 15 minutes with the hybrid cooler. Rebooted twice and after the 2nd reboot the card complete stopped working. All 4 leds flash once and then nothing else happens. Fans don't spin up and rgb doesn't turn on. Windows also does not recognize it when I checked using the igpu. Hopefully the new one doesn't have the same issues.

Did you disassemble the card to see if the fuse below that 8 pin blew?  There should be three fuses that correspond to 3 shunt resistors (should be the shunts (that say 005 or R005 on them) above the other shunts in the very top row, possibly with 3 shunts on the top row and 2 below that.  The three shunts side by side on the top row of the "block" of 5 shunts are for the 8 pin current monitoring, and the fuses should be some white IC right next to the shunts (3 fuses, 1 per shunt resistor).

I wouldnt buy another 3090 ftw 3 if I had it to do over again I would have stuck with my 1080ti ftw3 but the boy has it now.

KP cards having the same issues? I only build every 5-7 years and prefer to buy parts that will last to the next build cycle. Really don’t wanna drop even more money but if it costs 200 more and I have to cover the shipping costs at 100 bucks a pop then it makes sense to spend it on the better card upfront

If EVGA is selling a crap ftw3 why spend more for the next card? To me thats like rewarding them for building a shotty GPU. I would try to go FE or get a Strix and be good.

I hear you on that, I really do.. I was actually trying to move away from ASUS after GN exposed a lot of the manufacturer’s and the capacitor issue. I really love my Maximus Hero VII board but it’s my only ASUS product I’ve ever owned. Maybe I’ll go back and rewatch some of the ASUS card reviews.

As for the FE, I actually really like it and it has great thermals but admittedly I was trying to go with an AIO build this time. Not ready for a full on custom loop build and can’t say I’ve seen many, if at all, GPU AIO’s. It gets warm here and ambient can be high so even my NH-D15 is just passing warm air over hot air, thought maybe going AIO would reduce some of my thermal issues.

EVGA really needs to let us know what is happening with these cards. I assume something electrical is going wrong based on the pop most of us hear before the video is going out. I get my cross-ship RMA replacement Tuesday but I'm going to ask them to call me back when they test my bricked card and see what they find.

would nice but I dont think they will. Just had my second  3090 ftw3 die randomly. Same exact as everyone reports. In the 15 years of me buying graphics cards I have never seen such widespread failure. Am I crazy to think there is a design flaw?

Second ftw3 3090 card died today. Got it about a week ago via RMA, playing league of legends and sudden pop with no video output now 1 red led over middle psu slot.

Have had mine for two weeks and so far so good.  Reading thru here, I'm very concerned.


Good reason for concern. I would not baby your card, go through stress test and intensive games for a few days to reveal potentially hidden issues, if there are any, its hit and miss. You might be very lucky as some users actually have their cards since launch. Dearness thing is it might live long life and be good or might die during workload or while on idle.

Well, small update just for fun. My 3rd 3090 (2nd RMA replacement) is on route from EVGA with an ETA to myself of Jan. 26th. I was slightly excited (if anything 3090 can even excite me anymore) to see a 2114 serial number rather than the 2 prior 2014s that have previously failed. There isn't much online about the 2114 serial numbers but I do see 1 recent reddit post of a failed card so not going to get my hopes up too much.

I just received my RMA 3090 yesterday and it is a 2114, and it is working out great (granted, I've only had it one day).  My 2014 3090 failed after putting a water block on, but this 2114 survived that experience so I have high hopes for it.

Go FE if you can get one. You won't regret. That thing is an art. Nvidia is going to gradually discontinue FE production. That always happened before. Get one for collection.

I've had basically the same exact timeframes on my cards too (2x 2014s). I got my 3rd RMA today and it has a 2114 serial, so fingers crossed whatever this is is actually fixed. Probably not though... I am going to wait a few months before I put my hybrid kit back on this time...

I just got my third FTW3 yesterday, also serial 2114.
 
I've been running folding during the work day and plan to do some games tonight.  Place your bets.
 
I'm not an overclocker, I just want it to work out of the box., although I did install this one with the Normal/OC switch in OC this time, so the fans stay on.

I recently converted my air 3090 FTW3 Ultra to the Hybrid kit and am suffering major issues post install.  I have clean installed everything but windows, updated the card to the Hybrid FTW3 Bios's.  The card won't perform.  It works, but won't "perform".  It will not draw over 200W, I have no red lights of "Death" and clocks won't really go above 1200mhz.  The card was working pretty well as an air cooled unit I just didn't like the temps being mid 70's while gaming. (previous 2080 Ti was a hybrid conversion that gave me incredible results) I'm not sure what to do, but knowing I can still possibly RMA this thing is nice.  I haven't explored too much OC other than the OC Bios, no crazy testing.

I asked reimbursment to Amazon... too much dead VGA
Let's see if those 2114 will work great and I'll buy it again. Sadly still no news from evga about this cemetary of 3090.

I think you need to flash Hybrid FTW3 Bios for card. Im not 100% sure but you can ask EVGA Support or here https://forums.evga.com/E...IOS-BETA-m3124192.aspx

I don't think you actually need to, the pump controls itself no matter what bios is on the card. It just removes that 3rd fan and makes it actually report as a FTW3 hybrid.

did yours arc when it went?
 
mine had an audible pop when the system black screened, and then a small flash from someplace under the cover when i powered it back on. 




Mine did that and my computer shut down. I was freaking out. Luckily I was within 30 days of buying so I got a new one on the way to arrive tomorrow.

make sure the water block is tight? and flash a different bios?
