Don't do it, man. That sliding contact inside is trash and I would absolutely not trust it to handle big power transients. If EVGA had made it a moving cable connection, that would be one thing; but they didn't.

Real bummer then, thank you for the warning. I love how PL looks with my card. I had combed and hot mess express looks before and PL is my favorite.

As long as the sliding contact is secure, I do not see this as an issue but thank you for your feedback, we will pass it along.

"Secure"? A piece of metal touching another piece of metal, secure? How does someone make it more secure? How does someone keep it from oxidizing? There have been reports of people's power link adapters sparking and smoking. What should they have done to make them more secure? The is no user-serviceable or adjustable parts inside. How "secure" they could or couldn't be is limited by the design. The design is bad. The connection should have been rived or spot-welded flexible cables. I wouldn't use it on a 30xx series card which is already known to have ridiculous transient overshoots. There is nothing that you need to pass along. EVGA already knows why it didn't recommend using it on a 30xx series card and why it didn't market it at all for the 30xx series cards.

Incorrect. But, again, we will be glad to pass it on.

lol If you look at what has been said and marketed, EVGA does not recommend using this power link on high-power cards, even when it fits. Actions speak loud. Words speak loud. Gaps in product availability and compatibility speak loud. The Powerlink revision (current one) speaks loud about needing a design revision. People were burning up power links on 20xx series cards. EVGA knows that it isn't good to use the old power link on anything higher than a 3060. If some people at EVGA don't know it already, others at EVGA definitely do. Thanks for passing the word on! You can also pass the word on about the clicking fans and cycling on/off needlessly (and at what benefit if the clicking is more annoying than always running at a slow speed... and even if you get a fan that doesn't click, constant speed sound is more desirable than on/off/on/off), the MCU-controlled fan spike bugs/PWM frequency/stability problems causing a pulsating fan, totally broken and butchered AUX fan header that doesn't conform to any standard, and power balancing problems. Two of those issues existed in the 20xx series which somehow wasn't passed along to the 30xx series design team. Hopefully the 40xx series will be tested and refined. And even if the first models are rushed with problems, hopefully later models will be refined. I have no idea how EVGA was still releasing new models of 30xx series card a year later which had the same problems that the launch models had.

Thank you all for the input. Definitely something to think about. I was wondering why EVGA did not release a new version of PL for 30xx cards. I would def buy it and looks like others desire them too.
