lemmein Jesus christ. SOMEONE TELL US WHAT IS GOING ON I get my Hybrid in few days I'm worried now. Have you guys tried another PCIE CABLE? Blowing all the dust out? What's happening guys.
It would be nice to know what these LEDs mean at least.
Yeah like a troubleshooting manual or something for that kind of stuff. What is the point of those red lights if we don't know what they mean... or no one can tell us what they mean.

Sultan.of.swing I'd be curious to know what PSU all these Card's that are having issues are being ran with.
Seasonic tx-850. I heard an odd sound when shutting down my pc.. might be ‘the pop‘ some people call it. 3080, sn 2012. Most frustrating part is that they didn’t even answer my support ticket yet (18th dec, evga eu). I choose evga for the quality and support... well a bad card or batch can always happen but the bad support is very frustrating... Got lucky to buy an 6800xt phantom oc and it works perfectly fine. I’ve sent the damaged card back to Amazon and asked for a refund. Not going to wait any longer with the support, although I hope they will contact me soon.

This has absolutely nothing to do with PSU absolutely none, Its the board design and choice of components.

The pop you hearing might be the PSU TX shots off. All TX (Titanium) have slight click to the shot off and sleep mode, its absolutely normal and again not to mistake with cards pop, that is different story.

Yeah well, I need to a working card for my pc, cause I work at home due to... well you know:) I do understand times are diffecult and its holiday-season, but 5 days... come on! About 'the pop'... I think I mentioned 'odd'... I know the sounds of my pc pretty well, the next reboot had a B2-error and after that it went downwars pretty fast... Anyway, I am settled for now with my 6800XT, I will see how this works out (still prefer Nvidia), but if it takes to long/is to much of hassle, I'll go AMD this generation :)

I just had this happen to my 3090 FTW as well (2014 SN). It’s the power connector on the end that is showing a red light for me. Just made a support ticket. Hopefully they can replace these cards with ones that don’t suffer from this issue.. or any others :/ I have an EVGA G2 850W power supply. This happened with the whole PC at stock, no overclocking or increased power limits on the GPU or anything else. I was on discord when it happened - the rest of my system remained fully functional aside from no screen output and this red light. Was chatting/freaking out with my friend during the whole process. My backup 980 works just fine. Leads me to think this is very much an issue with the GPU and not the PSU. The whole PC would have shut off if it was the PSU hitting OCP.

Sorry to hear that it happened to you as well. The EVGA support is great though. I created my ticket, uploaded a picture of the red light and a picture of my receipt, then called them the next day. Waited a few minutes on hold, got a great customer rep who pulled up my ticket, checked my documents and said yup send it back. The call actually got disconnected and he called me back within 5 minutes to carry on. I received an RMA approval email within the hour. I took my 3090 to Fedex on Dec. 28th in Calgary AB Canada, insured it for $2500 CAD, shipped ground service, and it arrived at EVGA in Cali today (Jan 4th). Cost me $111 CAD which I don't believe they will reimburse. Just be sure to upload your pictures with your RMA request and I would call the next day just to get it moving more quickly. I'll see how the rest of it goes but they say they will send a return card out within 3 days of receiving yours.

Just joined the 3090 FTW3 Ultra red light club, second one from the left. Was playing Halo 3 MCC and heard a pop then video went out. My power supply is a Corsair HXi 1000 platinum and the Serial number for my card starts with 2014. I also wish there was a technical explanation for the pop and the specific light that comes on. Does it mean something different if its the second light compared to 1,3,4. I'm assuming there is no fix but to RMA the card.

I've also joined the red light of death club, after less than 24 hours of it being in my PC. Card came Monday afternoon (Jan 4), ran fine all night. Tuesday morning (Jan 5) card died playing RDR2. Had headphones on so didn't hear fan or pop etc etc. 3090, stock everything. Farthest left red light. Thermaltake Toughpower 850 PSU, dedicated cable for all PCIE. EDIT: Was running NVidia 460.89 Driver. Customer service was awesome, I have the advanced EVGA RMA, hoping to get a functioning card soon enough, for now I'm back on my 970 :(

Looks like it's the Nvidia drivers (very likely combined with perhaps with some combination of a certain specific hardware component unique to eVGA--fuse /shunt or power balancing?) that is destroying your guys cards. Take a look at this post. Light load games crashing (but no 100%+screaming fans happening). https://linustechtips.com...ty-in-light-workloads/

Maybe that's why Halo is the game some of us are getting the red light on since the Halo 1-3 games are light load for a 3090. I had my card for about 2 months and was having no issues with high usage games like ARK Survival / Destiny 2 / Assassins Creed and Cyberpunk. I specifically had just changed the Halo 3 fps setting to unlimited playing through Halo 3 campaign and I remember looking up at what Rivatuner was showing before I heard the pop. GPU usage was at 35%

I said this 2-3 months ago when my 3090 FTW and my nephews 3x 3090 FTW died within 2 weeks, go back and look in the threads and I will say it again, the issue its not with either games or drivers, that should NEVER, EVER hurt your hardware and when people think this could be pointing to drivers or in combination with system specific setups, there is a much deeper problem with these cards that just waiting to brake when you least expected. You can do heavy computing work that will squeeze every bit of your cards power, play most demanding games and be lucky and nothing happen, at least for time been and then you can be on desktop idling doing nothing and get surprised with dead card, it seem to be time ticking bomb, how much time...no one knows, but you hear every day, someone’s card died.

This is what I was trying to say but I got flamed for it. There may be a substandard part on eVGA Cards, which is why eVGA Cards are dying while other AIB cards just crash instead. And it may be some interaction with buggy Nvidia drivers (6500C blip, overcurrent bugs? i don't know) and a part on eVGA Cards which can't handle what the drivers are doing. People have said they heard a "pop". No one posted whether a fuse blew when that pop happened though.

RMA replacement received today, after only a few hours of gaming the same failure occurred. Card is totally dead, right most red LED is lit (on the last card it was the left most).
This is so frustrating, anyway I can just get a refund for this card? I had purchased it from newegg.

If you got it from newegg, It must have been at the time when they extended their time for returns and exchanges which was up to 3 months from the date of purchase, so if you within that time I would definitely return it.

ive said it before, but after my card popped, i powered the system back on to assess the damages. as soon as i powered on, there was a very bright arcing flash that came from someplace inside the card. and then a few moments later i had a dead card with a far right led lit up. the flash came from somewhere in the general area ive highlighted.

Newegg was pretty direct that it was non-refundable through them regardless, they told me to deal with EVGA.

I assume you are in US, might be a different rules. Here is Canada from November 2020 till January 2021(3 months) you could either get full refund or exchange the only thing they wouldn't refund was the shipping. Good luck with getting that sort out, hopefully something will work out.

The SRC (power plane input source) shunt resistor is on the other side of the PCB around that location. I don't know if the power balancing chip controller IC is at the spot you circled or not though.

Re: 3090 FTW - Red Light of Death

Well this 3090 saga just continues to be something of interest. I received my RMA replacement card Jan 8th. Identical card but with a different serial number (still a 2014 serial#). I uninstalled my 1070 drivers, installed the 3090 and it booted up normally. I then installed Geforce experience and the latest drivers. I ran benchmark and 3Dmark and everything was perfectly normal. I then loaded up Black Desert Online (my last card died when I tried to play Greedfall for the first time ever), went to the settings, maxed everything out mostly, and tried to join a server. And then I got the black screen. Computer was still running but no video output. This gave me an instant PTSD flashback of my last card when it died. I check the card and it looks normal, RGB flashing, fans spinning, and most importantly no red light of death. I then begin my few hours of troubleshooting. -Reboot computer - no output -Try different display port cables - no output -Try HDMI - no output -Unplug/restart monitor - no output -Take 3090 out, check all cables, reinstall - no output -Swap to onboard video card and check device manage - no 3090 is detected -Go to bios - no video card is detected -Swap 3090 to 2nd PCI slot - not detected -Reset bios settings to default - not detected -Uninstall video card drivers & precision X using DDR - not detected -Try to install nvidia drivers - can’t install because no nvidia card is installed -Remove cmos battery and 3090 & reinstall - not detected -Reinstall 1070 - detected in both bios & windows -Do a full windows reinstall - not detected -Update bios from September to latest December version - not detected So here at this point i’m starting to run out of troubleshooting options and pretty much accepting that somehow this card is also now dead. The only thing that kept me going is the fact that it didn’t have the red light of death so it felt like I still had some glimmer of hope. I remembered reading a random post that mentioned PCI settings in bios so out of desperation I jumped back into bios and just out of randomness I found these settings under Advanced\Platform Misc Configuration: Everything was set to disabled except PCI Express Clock Gating was enabled. I only changed the following settings: PCH DMI ASPM → Changed from Disabled to Auto ASPM 0 → Changed from Disabled to Auto I rebooted the computer, went to bios, and the 3090 was now detected. I went into windows and it was also now detected in device manager. I honestly couldn’t believe it. The first 2 random settings I mess around with somehow fixed the issue. Maybe this means more to someone here that could explain this but for me it was just blind random luck. I reinstalled nvidia geforce experience and latest drivers and spent the night gaming with no issues at all. Booted the computer up this morning and no output. Confirmed the 3090 was still detected in both bios and windows, reconnected display port cable, rebooted, and it worked. The emotional rollercoaster of the 3090 is something of a mystery and I'll just keep rolling with whatever it brings next.

And she's dead. Black screened while gaming, turned computer off, heard the pop this time, rebooted with red light of death.

SMH. Seemed like she was trying to hang on. Getting revived with random PCIe setting changes (likely broken-clock syndrome though). Maybe third time's the charm...

Have you tried updating all your drivers and motherboard bios and windows all up to date? Just curious if you regularly update your hardware bios and drivers?

Yeah you bet, everything is fully updated - windows, bios, and latest nvdia drivers.
