What kills the GPU? Undervolting? You're sure?

CPU: 10900KF, RAM: Corsair DDR4 3600MHz 16GB RAM, GPU: EVGA 3080Ti FTW3 Ultra, PSU: Corsair RM850x, Monitor: Asus PG279Q 1440p GSync, SSD: Samsung EVO 960 nvme

If only car and computer enthusiasts could meet and talk about why they do what they do and have a mutual understanding.  I don't see many people reducing horsepower... (sure there are the fuel consumption people but my 383 SBC gets 8-14MPG and I love it)

Edit: adjusted MPG, I'm not always redlining it.

I don't think being a tree hugger is a bad thing (a stigma/label placed on someone with a connection to the preservation of the earth). We need people to balance out those who are insensitive to these sorts of things so we ALL can live hopefully long, fruitful lives. :P

I say this in good fun, but once you move out of 1954 and realize a modern 1.6L (98ci for the good ole boys) can both stomp that 383SBC into the dirt and get 35mpg, you have to laugh a little at that comparison. Although, in fairness, I have a SBC in my 1956 Chevy so... I think a lot of car guys are probably PC guys too.

Reality is, you can pretty easily match the factory OC version performance while decreasing power draw and temperatures pretty significantly. You do this by running an aggressive OC but then cap the peak voltage/frequency that it runs at.

So, maybe you answered the question that I did for another user. When you say “You do this by running an aggressive OC but then cap the peak voltage/frequency that it runs at”, you mean that you don’t underclock the whole curve prior to setting the peak voltage/frequency, am I right?

Correct. I go in and set a positive core offset (say +210MHz), apply it, then go into the F/V curve editor and cap the peak frequency.

That LOL user is trying to get elite status. Ignore
