Well I put my XC3 into Step-Up for a FTW3. Not the card I wanted and I'll be stuck with a used XC3 Hybrid kit.

That might be the play i do xD. does the wheel code and associate code affect the "MSRP" when stepping up?

AFAIK, you can not use any type of discounts on a Step-Up. I could be wrong, but pretty sure.

I think i worded it wrong, if i used the elite code+associate code on a xc3 would the "step up" cost be $200 or would the difference be more like $400+ with the discounts?

I'm pretty sure that if you use your elite discount + the associate code then it uses that. So, by stepping up to a 3080 ti ftw3 ultra, you'd still have to pay all $1400 and your elite code would basically be negated.

Hmm sounds easier just to get the XC3, then buy the FTW3 when i get the email which is 12minutes away, then resell for the xc3

Also sorry for derailing the thread xD

Anyone want to be brave and flash the Zotac Amp Holo BIOS to it?

It’s a 2x 8-pin card, specs say the BIOS goes up to 385W.

So it seems that not even EVGA knows that PX1, their own software lists both Total Power and Normalized Total Power. Not Looking good,

EDIT: Seems the other 3080ti had the same issue with uneven powerdraw, https://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=3381956

EVGA has made adjustments to BIOS’ of other models of cards to fix power issues like this. No reason they couldn’t or shouldn’t try to fix this one.

Not really - they actually lowered the limit on the PCIe slot so none of their cards will go out of spec on the PCIe slot.  There's nothing you can do except flashing the BIOS if you can find one with higher limits on the PCIe slot but that was killing cards previously so its not a good idea.  If you want more power budget you need to get a 3 connector card instead and preferably the Kingpin.

unfortunately you have to take what you can get. I did enter queues for FTW3 cards, but I got in earliest on this model by pure luck.

but the "3-connector" cards are only available in the taller FTW3 variants, and those wont fit in my case anyway (O11D) without mounting vertical, which I do not want to do to allow me to access the other expansion slots. even the XC3 HC card is only like 3/4" from the side panel, the FTW3 is like an inch taller, and Kingpin even more so.

Not to derail but I have a 2080 super ftw which is 5.4 inches in a 011 dynamic. The 3080 ti ftw is 5.3. My 2080 fits of course the cables touch the glass a little. But that's solved with sleeved cables which are less stiff.

I'm like 4-5 min from this card but I'm doing the same. I can sell my 2080 super ftw ultra to make up most of it.

With a water block on the FTW3, it will not fit in his case, I have the same issue. The 3080 Ti XC3 Hydro Copper was my dream card since the 30 series came out. Now I will not be buying it. I'll do the Step-Up with this trash XC3 card, sell the FTW3 card and may never buy an EVGA product again, depending on how EVGA resolves this issue.

This is going to be my first build and I just bought an under performing card. A $1200 card that under performs.

in the context of this thread, I'm talking about the hydrocopper cards which have an additional ~1" of height due to the waterblock terminal.

XC3 (what i have now) is 5.2" height.
FTW3 is 6.2" height.

I do not have an extra inch, it'll protrude past the side panel at that point.

Could someone with the card send a list of their synthetics results? Since I don’t have my card yet, I’d like to see how the card actually performs. Also, it could be useful to see the variance between each 3080 ti xc3.

I have been waiting for more than 7 months for a card. Now, I am 5 minutes away in the queue for the 3080 TI XC3 (3953) and 15 minutes away for the 3080 TI FTW3 (3967). What do you guys recommend me to do?

Based on what you said about the XC3 limitations, should I skip the option to buy the XC3 and wait one more month (or maybe more) to buy the FTW3?

If you don't mind paying 3080 Ti price for the performance of an overclocked 3080, buy the XC3. Personally I would not buy the XC3, the cards are trash. I received the email to purchase the 3080 Ti XC3 Hybrid yesterday and I did not buy it. Put my current XC3 into Step-Up for the FTW3 model so I can get rid of this over priced piece of garbage EVGA is pushing off on their customers.

if you don't have any size/space constraints, and can swing the extra ~$50, go for the FTW3.

I think I should read more about the card dimensions, because I have a Noctua DH15 chromax.Black tower already installed for my CPU, and I do not know if the card will fit or touch it. Thanks!

Have you run any gaming benchmarks? I feel those might be a good indication of where the card stands considering your system setup in general.

FTW3 queues usually move faster than XC3 queues anyways. I wouldn't be shocked if the times you get notifications on each one are closer together than you think.

I think you're being a bit too hyperbolic. not every load scales with cores or power. and timespy or firestrike scores aren't the end-all-be-all for determining value/performance, unless literally all you do is run these benchmarks on loop.

my main load (Einstein) scales well with the 3080ti and even a fast 3080 wont touch it. I'm actually about 18-20% faster than a 3080 under the same load.

the DXR test shows pretty normal performance for a 3080ti. faster than the 3080, and slower than the 3090 (actually got better score than some of the slower 3090's too).

do i think this issue should be addressed? absolutely.
do i think that these 3080Tis are slower/less powerful than a 3080 all the time just because some timespy and firestrike scores say so? absolutely not.

Doesn’t the ftw3 cost $200 more than the xc3, not $50?

Could someone with the card send a list of their synthetics results? Since I don’t have my card yet, I’d like to see how the card actually performs. Also, it could be useful to see the variance between each 3080 ti xc3.

I posted a bunch of mine on the previous page.

Have you run any gaming benchmarks? I feel those might be a good indication of where the card stands considering your system setup in general.

timespy and port royal aren't gaming benchmarks?? lol.

I meant actual games. Sadly, despite being entertaining, timespy and port royal aren't games. I should've clarified further I guess.

I think he means fps results in actual games.

that too much variation in my opinion. you need to use an actual repeatable benchmark to make a quantitative comparison.

qualitative results from real games depends too much on the actual frames being rendered and is not as repeatable like a true benchmark is.

Too much variance to be very useful.

So EVGATech_LeeM is too much of a chicken to address this thread?

I'll be sending my 3080 Ti XC3 card to a big tech youtuber to call EVGA out on this issue.

Stay tuned!

both Jayz2cents and Steve @GN would be good. they have a big following and a history of testing weird GPU issues.

Stock XC3 Ultra (air-cooled, 12G-P5-3955-KR) results:
 * seems I can't post links, so I'll write id's of the results. You can construct urls yourself: 3dmark + .com + /3dm/ + id. Also added screenshots from 3dmark website and a screenshot of afterburner monitor after one of the runs of Time Spy

Time Spy
63854926

Time Spy Extreme:
63854493

Port Royal
63854679

During tests GPU-Z was showing on average 330-340W of power draw (max was 359W): 62-65.7W for PCIe slot, and 130-145 for power lanes. Temps were high: gpu at 80 C, hotspot 86 C, and memory at 90 C (though ambient temp was also high - close to 28-30 C). And this is with open case.

I guess at least in terms of power draw the card that I got is ok. But knowing that there are problems with this model, I'm really considering doing the step-up.

Fixed links. Your average GPU clock speed is low.

So just for thought. Out of the box no twidling
Also not able to post links so same timespy code format as above
21548304

With lots of twiddling and unstable game performance
21327285

Never really see over 320 watts on my card, and it nearly always reports it's on it's power limit while gaming/benchmarking.
