My Hybrid kit with px1 and the bios of Jacob give ti me big problems. First of all i have my card consumption at idle 180w. Nothing running. Temps are top food for be real, and the secondo fan(the vrm) not rum Evert time. Seems hwinfo px1 can't ready right this info on the card. When i'm idle mi card stato in 189watt and zero load. Before the kit my card was perfect. I have Corsair icue and razer program too. I thinked about conflict, but i due many try. Amy suggestioni? I'm from Europe.

From reading several threads on the XC3 it appears that:

Techpowerup XC3 hybrid unverified VBIOS Version 94.02.26.88.92
Stock XC3 hybrid from EVGA VBIOS Version 94.02.26.88.92

Not sure what version the one Jacob posted is

Looks like the Techpowerup is the one that we should use.

At what percentage (speed) do you notice the factory fans versus the Noctuas?  I have a couple of those elsewhere in my case and can possibly switch when I build it this weekend.

Anyone know if I can run Noctua NF-A15 HS-PWM fans off the XC3 hybrid fan controller?  Ran out of spots on my motherboard to plug any more fans in.    And I do not want to go down the route of getting a commander pro that will not play well with my x570 without a internal USB hub.

Re: 3080 / 3090 Hybrid Kit BIOS Conversion Steps 2021/02/07 19:15:18 (permalink)
Just finished the install. Thanks to the Youtube videos of people breaking the connectors I was able to avoid that mistake.  Took forever to clean off all the thermal putty.  And I don't know how many times I cussed those small IO screws as they would jump out of my hand.

Kept the stock fans.  With my system at full load I measure about 44 db on my phone.  With the cooler fans cranked to 100% I get just above 45 db.  It was not worth it at this point to reconfigure my system software so I could go with Noctua fans.  The Argus Monitor software is very nice, but I am happy with my Asus Fan Expert 4.  When I change cases it will be something to look at.

Strangely enough running Precision X1 did not prompt me to update firmware after the install.  I will probably flash the techpowerup vbios after I know things are stable.  The change in cooling on both the CPU and GPU were dramatic.

Re: 3080 / 3090 Hybrid Kit BIOS Conversion Steps 2021/02/07 20:30:45 (permalink)
I'm super happy, just completed a 3080 XC3 to Hybrid conversion. Under extended load, GPU core temps are under 50C with the stock fan curve.

One odd thing I've noticed is that the idle power draw is huge. Granted, I have a high refresh rate monitor and I've had issues with this card idling with high power draw when it was air cooled, but since flashing the XC3 Hybrid BIOS I have never once seen idle power draw south of 180W, with 4 different Nvidia drivers going back to October. If anyone has a workaround for the high idle power usage I would be very thankful.

So far have tried multiple drivers, lower refresh rate, disabling G-SYNC and lowering GPU preferred power setting in Nvidia Control Panel.

Not a huge issue, the card is still idling at 27C with that power draw, but it just seems wasteful to use that much energy all the time.

My hybrid converted 3080 XC3 ultra is idling with 20w power draw. My monitor is G-SYNC 145hz, NV control panel at defaults. Did you use the bios from tech power up? Maybe that would fix it.

With the Hybrid addon and the Factory XC3 bios according to GPU-Z I have 36.4W board power draw under less than 10% load with no fans.   This is connected to a G9 monitor running at 5120x1440 set to 240hz (not that it will reach that on the desktop).  I am idling at a much higher temp than yours with 40 (lower than yesterday).  Even if I crank my fans to 100% I am still  only hitting 40 Watts at 32C.

Shoutout to you my man, that resolved it.

94.02.42.80.3A = 185W idle
94.02.26.88.92 = 21W idle

G-SYNC enabled, 144Hz. Thank you for the feedback guys, this was a headscratcher.

I'm not sure if my ambient temperature is different than yours or perhaps you might want to remount the cooler. I'm currently at 16C ambient, so a 9C difference when idle with roughly the same power draw (21W).

Perhaps having the air cooled BIOS for the card is a factor, but I didn't run the card with the hybrid cooler and the air cooled BIOS at all so no feedback on what my temps were with that configuration.

I tried to go directly to Techpowerup VBIOS Version 94.02.26.88.92, but it would not allow it due to a  mismatch.
I was able to flash the bios from EVGA_Jacob to get me to 94.02.42.80.3A, which I understand is not the best version.  Considering it was at 180w at idle I understand why.
After a reboot I was able to use the TechPowerup one and am 35W board power again.

temps seem to be lower, but I am getting a lot more variation in card utilization at idle.  Need to do some reboots and benchmarking.

PX1 now recognizes it as a hybrid card.

Also seems the higher temp was either I had a custom fan curve or the default fan curve has changed.  I am 32C with 30% fan and the temp is still dropping.  I'll update the post in the morning with the final temp.

Update:  Overnight my system stabilized at 30C in a 21C room.  Considering my radiator has half a fan obstructed by my Air cooler I am happy with the results.

Re: 3080 / 3090 Hybrid Kit BIOS Conversion Steps 2021/02/26 17:10:39 (permalink)
Hello everyone, someone from EVGA or knowing the subject well can answer a question that I ask myself? What is the use of the BIOS update presented by Jacob or techpowerUP for people updating their cards with the Hybrid kit?

Because I went to inquire I could not find information to convince myself, I also went to see the product sheet on the EVGA site of the RTX 3080 XC3 HYBRID, and the frequencies are identical to the basic one, namely the RTX 3080 XC3 ULTRA. What does this update really bring?

Because I seem to know that a saying says that "If everything works, don't touch!"

Nevertheless it seems interesting on the part of EVGA to offer update kits to upgrade the customers' product.
After my side I still remain very skeptical of these kits although they are excessively interesting, I am still convinced that we can do better.

I'm waiting to see what EKWB and Alphacool will offer, I know that they announced AIO GPU kits last September. I contacted Alphacool last week and learned a little more
The proposed kits will be AIO GPUs with 360mm radiator only no 240mm, 280mm planned according to them, pump and Full-Waterblock (GPU, Memory, VRM and coil) Exactly the same Waterblock for a custom loop, available within 2 to 3 months on the main GPUs (FTW3, MSI SUPRIMX, ..) is the middle / entry level will come a few weeks later (XC3, ..).

These are new Alphacool Eiswolf 2 models, they were after the person I had, totally redesigned, So we can assume that they will be different from the first visuals of a few months ago

ok, i installed evga hybrid kit on 3080 ftw3 ultra, i flashed xoc OC from Jacob, power draw is hitting 450W. idle @2k 144hz gsync is 94W. I am NOT able to flash hybrid bios from EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 XOC BIOS BETA thread, its says no display adapter found.... no matter if its normal\OC.

gpuz says i have this for XOC OC- 94.02.26.48.88

any idea how to fix this so px1 recognize this as Hybrid cart and power draw will be lower when idle?

I have the same problem. I did these steps :

- install the original 3080 ftw ultra bios in normal (no problem)
- rebooted pc and switched to OC
- try to install the Ftw3 ultra 3080 hybrid OC version ( Then i get : No display adapter found that are compatible with this update)

Tips ?

So I just installed my hybrid kit to my 3090 FTW3 Ultra and I’m noticing when I launch black ops my card throttles down into the 1600s mhz instead of the 2040mhz that my overclock is set to. This is after I flashed the card with the “hybrid” version of the bios anyone have any thoughts as to what’s going on?

Thanks! I installed the hybrid kit and updated the FW with the FTW3 version thinking all was good until I saw this thread. Everything looks good in X1 now. Should a 3090 be running in the mid 70s with settings on max when running ARK and GTAV? It gets so toasty.
I am not completely familiar with how monitor setups can effect the load, but I am running 4 1440 monitors. 2 are 144, 1 is 100, and the other is 240.

Re: 3080 / 3090 Hybrid Kit BIOS Conversion Steps 2021/05/31 13:19:54 (permalink)
Just bought Hybrid kit for 3090 XC3 Ultra, read through whole thread, repeated questions of what benefit of going with the Hybrid bios is unanswered. Then with many having trouble going to the one linked but then a unverified bios works???

I updated my bios to support Rebar, are their now Hybrid cooler conversion kit bios for the 3090 XC3 Ultra supporting Rebar? There is nothing I can find.

The instruction for the conversions says nothing about having to update the bios, no links etc. Nor the firmware but maybe that is automatic due to the different fan configuration that PX1 will see (I don't know).  So why are some updating to bad bios's and non EVGA sources? Makes zero sense. Really looks like using the original bios (updated to support Rebar) for the 3090 XC3 Ultra is the right answer.

Then the very obvious question is not fully answered, why not use the EVGA Hybrid 3090 XC3 bios, which has a Rebar version? Will it work? Has anyone done this? Can one do this?

This thread has not helped one bit in defining what one should do and why. Wish EVGA would be much more clear on their products and clear up misunderstandings in their own forums. The instruction or product should make very clear if no bios update is needed and if so link to the correct bios. Their product support has no support for either Rebar bios which is pretty much taken care of in PX1.

So I will use the original updated Rebar bios and call EVGA support if I have problems, if I get sent to the broken bios, hell will ensue.

Well, found the answer after all here:
https://forums.evga.com/3090-XC3-Ultra-Hybrid-Kit-Bios-m3306101.aspx

Only thing the different bios does is indicate in PX1 you have a hybrid. Does not support Rebar and OP indicated it shows 2 fans vice 3 as well in PX1. I think I can live without those items.

Have a Hybrid kit coming for my 3080 FTW Ultra and was reading through some of this.
So, the Hybrid 3080 FTW BIOS has power issues and doesn't allow resizable bar still?? Or was this corrected?
If so, I can just leave it on the OC BIOS I have currently.
I'm just afraid to mess anything up. lol

Re: 3080 / 3090 Hybrid Kit BIOS Conversion Steps 2021/06/20 11:45:55 (permalink)
Hybrid cooler on 3090 XC3 Ultra is working better than expected, no need to update bios at all, have rebar, OC better and maintains less than 60c while gaming with default settings. Threadripper 3960x system with 64gb of ram.

Took my time when installing, no major change over issues, instructions I think is missing some convenience steps. At times I was holding the board after plugging in the fan/led cables and trying to open a package for the paper washers and install them (failure on my part for not thinking ahead). Anyways those paper washers are sticky on one side and could have been done before plugging in the plugs. No biggy.

After installing into computer, after pulling out an AMD card using DDU, tried to load newest Nvidia drivers and got a blank screen when installing and Windows would take over 10 min to load afterwards (this was painful, initially kept rebooting until I just left it on and did something else and came back greeted by Windows log on screen. 3dMark was a slideshow, 8-10fps. Repeated DDU, turned off rebar in the bios . . . Painful. Went back one driver version and everything works and working really good. Thought I messed up the card. Somehow the driver was corrupted or has issues with my setup.

My vram junction temperature actually went down for mining. Card is not currently being used for mining nor planned at this time as a note. This is really a good product and exceeded my expectations, very good deal if you don't mind tinkering a little.
