Should I bother with getting a 2nd 1080ti kingpin and a water block for it or just focus on getting the next build planned going and trying to land 2 2080ti kingpins if and when they drop? Not that any game I play uses sli but the cool factor gets me. If the opinions are to just move forward with future kingpins I will just put my current kingpin on water and let my son have it and focus on my next build next year

At this point, you may as well move forward. I wouldn’t suggest buying the Kingpin, but if you want to go for that, then go for it :-)

I think you should use GTX1080Ti K|NGP|N until RTX2080Ti K|NGP|N Hydro Copper become available.
I'm really against two of them but it's on you, one is perfect.

For second one you can buy newest DDR5 platform when show up.
When AMD launch 7nm with PCI-E 4.0 and Intel will hurry to adopt new features and DDR5 will become available.
They delayed little because they should be available even in 2019 late. But until late 2020 they will become available.
I could estimate that nice new platform with 8-10 core CPU will cost 1500$.
Feature prices of Intel platforms are really under question if AMD really could launch what they promise,
but they have much newer Zen core.

Didn't you build your computer for you, not for other people? Asking us what to do with your purchase decisions confuses me.

I did, and I'm also very green at this and learning all I can to make the best choices.
