could somebody confirm that the FTW3s length is in fact

• Length: 11.89in - 301.925mm  ! including the over hanging "high end" plastic fan..mount? What's the material again?
• i am working with an extreme tight enclosure. A SilverStone Fortress FT02 which seems perfect for this card. If it isn't any longer than advertised.

Yes. I learned my lesson, I have never preordered hardware before, and never will again. I'll wait for it to be on shelved and reviewed properly. My own fault believing I would have the card in 3-4 weeks.

I don't know about you guys but this card is two weeks salary for me.

I also have never pre-ordered hardware before, but I sort of expected something like this.  I may just have more sympathy for these guys than most because I am an engineer at intel. I've been in the critical path when there's problems, and it sucks.  There's really like a million weird things that can go wrong, even if they are just doing cards and not the silicon itself.  We have no idea if they discovered a last minute problem, or if NVIDIA slammed them with some agreement technicality, or if 30% of their employees have the flu.

This is going to be, in my opinion, one of the very best cards on the market.  If this goes on for another 2-4 weeks I'd start to get miffed, but right now I think this is fair still.
 
If you are sitting without a reasonable GPU of any sort right now, then that's a different situation and you might want to opt for another card if you can find one.

You're right, it doesn't affect anybody else but you and that's cool of you to see if anybody else wants the card. I think you're getting responses here because you posted about your frustrations so people here are just responding to your frustrations with their thoughts.


All I was trying to say is that I understand your frustrations, but waiting a few more days isn't going to matter after you get the card and will be using it for at least a year or two.

It is a big deal to me also as I'm leaving the state and the card does no good to me sitting at UPS for two weeks while I'm out of town, praying it doesn't get sent back to EVGA.

Well, that is a different situation then. I'd recommend starting with that first next time then it doesn't look like you're just being impatient. :) 
 
But I would think that UPS wouldn't have a huge problem with sitting on the card for a few weeks.

TBH I'm playing 1440p anyways . My 1080 is doing just fine .

Thank you for pointing this out. Any large project like this can hit snags left and right, especially right up until the end. I would happily wait a few more days if that means I'll be getting a finished product and not something half baked.

UPS will hold it 3-5 days.

I've been trying to get an estimate ship date since I ordered the card for this very reason

ugh, dang, that's not very long at all. Yeah, i can see that being a huge problem. Do you have a trusted friend that can pick it up and hold it for you?

That is all understandable, with a little communication this frustration could be relayed to the consumer. I don't like the we don't know what to tell you BS. Oh a another delay , but we won't tell you why.

Sure, but the thing is they probably can't tell you exactly why.  If it's a last minute technical problem with silicon, it violates an agreement with component manufacturer (NVIDIA).  If it's a technical problem on their end, they risk giving up trade secrets and causing panic when the details hit twitter and 95% of customers don't understand it and one oaf misconstrues it as a total failure.  Heck, even if it's just their shipment people unable to grab a bulk order today they would be hurting their relationship by unprofessionally calling them out in public.
 
There's way too much risk involved trying to explain exactly what is going on, we gotta cut them some slack.  I know it doesn't seem like it, but Jacob's communication is actually top shelf stuff compared to a lot of places.

I'm trying to be sympathetic, but I couldn't agree more.  Just yesterday the update was that they would begin shipping today.  Although on the other hand if something like a bug or something was discovered it's good that they caught it.  It would just be nice to know what happened in less than 24 hours to cause an undetermined delay....it's not like he said it would ship Monday, we will just be getting an update then.  I hope the update is tracking numbers.

My friend has been trying to get one of these preordered for a while with no luck so I am sure he would love to take over your preorder. I just don't know if there is a way to do that.

Safer bet would be to wait for the shipment to hit and grab up whatever extras they have.. if they do.

People complaining about FTW3 delays, as if the delays didn't exist prior?  NEWS FLASH:  Everyone's been on the delay train prior and you guys are acting like this is a shock and disbelief.  Get on board, there's room for everyone else! lol

I would either cancel it or have it shipped to a trusted source if you work it out with your shipment company.

That's a good point, you can call EVGA and change the shipping address. Have them ship it to a trusted friend/family member.
