I wasn't planning on bringing up the issue until toward the end of the CC but since it has arisen, its entirely up to what everyone in the contest wants.  The pick your own prize has the benefit of insuring you get a prize you can use (and what you value the most from the remaining prizes), but it is a little bit slower in distributing the prizes.  The randomly assigning prizes is much faster in assigning prizes, but can lead to people winning prizes they might not have a use for.

Whatever way the majority wants to go is how things will work.

Well here's a thought we do the The randomly assigning prizes thing but the members can PM you on say what 1-3 prizes they don't want so if it comes up you know they don't want that prize & you can pick another prize for them!

thats exactly why I wanted to continue pick your prize method, everyone gets something they wanted instead of something that might be useless to them. I know it will be slower but its the best method to use.

Tbh I really like the random drawing method it is quick and easy.  If you have something you can not use you could always trade.

I vote pick your prize, with the option to pass. It works well, as long as the prize gets shipped.

Where are we supposed to put our screen shots? And are the screen shots supposed to be taken during or before the CC?

I believe you will need those screen captures after the CC begins since it has to be proof that you Folded during the challenge.  I don't clearly understand where the screen shots are to be posted either.

The one prize qualification (from the list) that I don't get is this one:
  • Fold on more than 90% of your PPD for EVGApes
How will anyone know how much a person Folded (in %) for EVGApes when all the points go into the same User bucket?

Question on shipping to
If I pick North America only does the the "winner " outside of the US (not including WW) have to pay any duties or taxes for something that is essentially free? Id be more than willing to ship anywhere, but I dont want the price of the shipping to exceed the value of the prize. I also would prefer that the winner isnt responsible for any fees either.
TIA,
  Howdy

If you're shipping to Canada the preferred method would be USPS. UPS, Fedex, etc. are known for charging outrageous Customs brokerage fees which can sometime equal the value of the package itself.

Just to verify yes, screenshots must be taken during the actual contest period.

I will start a separate thread for screenshots once the contest begins (putting it up now would confuse some people).

Quick question and sorry if this causes confusion for people.  If these are dumb questions feel free to tell me so.

"Fold for EVGApes throughout the duration of the Chimp Challenge May 5 - May 15 2011."
Does this mean we have to fold 24/7 through the whole 10 days?
And "Fold on more than 90% of your PPD for EVGApes"
Does that mean we can't fold anything other than 10% of the time towards the EVGA Bucks promotion?

Don't worry about your EVGA bucks, you will be reinbursed as long as you've been folding for EVGA and getting the bucks. So yeah, go all out for the apes those 10 days, none towards the bucks because that will be taken care of.

what he means by fold on more then 90% of your PPD, is say for example you entered 40,000 PPD when you signed up, you have to fold about 36,000 a day or more each of the 10 days the CC runs from May 5th to May 15th.

if you don't fold 90% or more of what you entered then you don't qualify for the prize drawing

also as far as finding out who folded what % for evgapes I don't have any idea, Troy probably has a sneaky plan to figure that out lol

Yes, you have to devote your folding efforts entirely to EVGApes.  Don't worry about the EVGA Bucks promotion...Shane has said that they will credit folders that sign up for and participate in the Chimp Challenge with the points they would have folded for the EVGA  Bucks promotion during the Chimp Challenge contest period.  If you start folding under your own name during this period, you may lose the credited points.

I love having the prizes for our Team to make the whole thing more interesting.  I was just curious how anyone could manage that particular prize requirement (of knowing if people Folded 90% of their daily pledge) with all the points landing in the same User bucket.

Im not trying to start anything, but we've already covered this multiple times. They already go out of there way with the EVGA Bucks program every month. Sure they could take that away and then givea couple of prizes for a competition. That would sure save them a whole bunch of money. I personally don't mind the lack of prizes from them with the bucks program in place.

EVGA has been more than fair over the years. My folding rig's mobo came from an EVGA give away. Not only have they given away prizes for our major accomplishments they give us EVGA bucks. I think I heard this program cost them over $50,000 a year. Probably more since we have more folders now.
Then, you have the image of EVGA "buying" the title with corporate money. We've all heard those arguments.
Would it be nice to have a SR-2 or 500 series card thrown into the pool...YES! But I wouln't say EVGA has a lack of interest or concern.

Folding whatever I can :o)

While it would be great for EVGA to offer up some goodies, you cannot hold it against them if they don't.

EVGA had a huge give away when we became the number 1 folding team.  They give away tons of promotions through their EVGA Bucks program throughout the year.  EVGA far surpasses any other organization that I am aware of on total giveaways to folders.  They have nothing to be ashamed about.

Moreover, has anyone even asked that they contribute to the Chimp Challenge?  No one to my knowledge has even asked - its hard to criticize not being given something you haven't asked for.

Like our team, the majority of OCN's prizes come as donations from the community.

From your statement, it is also clear that you do not understand what a tax write off is.

I know many would agree with me when i say that even without any prizes I would be just as into folding/chimp challenge.  Think of the prizes as a bonus and winning the challenge itself as the real prize.

I hate to say it, but Truly EVGA Corporation should be Ashamed that they dont themselves Provide Prizes such as the above or Better. What we do is good but again we are left doing for one another out of our own kindness.

When will EVGA step up?
We Make them Number One and they dont offer anything. What gives? They have an accountant that can write it off, its not money. Its just their lack of interest or concern.

Comments like this make me ill.

Bold text: EXACTLY!!!!!! We do this on our OWN, no one is forcing this upon anyone.

Bold text 2: WRONG!!! WRONG!!! WRONG!!!! When the team reached #1 they gave out awesome prizes. I suggest you do more research before making a statement such as this.

Not tooting my own horn, but I am putting into the prize pool and NOT ENTERING IN TO IT, granted it is not a "super" prize by any means. Its something I paid a lot for back in its day and has been sitting around doing nothing. Hopefully it will help someone with their folding goals.
Thats all I have, but you know there are just some posts that you just shouldnt hit the "post message" button. Maybe this is one for me, but its just getting ridiculous with the selfishness these days.

TeamEVGA was created by folks who HAPPEN to be members of EVGA's forum, not by EVGA itself.  I personally fold for this team out of loyalty to the other team members who have become a family to me, and NOT out of any loyalty to EVGA, the company.

The idea that EVGA owes us ANYTHING is like saying we are required to purchase a certain amount of merchandise to have access to these forums.

EVGA has NOTHING to be ashamed of as they are not a part of this contest, nor should they be.  Again, the team name is BORROWED because of the forum we happen to be members of.

They owe us nothing I could go to any other forums and fold for them.  Do they do anything special for their team half the time? NO!  Are they close knit as us?  NO!  I fold for the goodness of which it stands.  I love EVGA they have nothing to be ashamed of.  They promote folding sure but we choose to do so.  They are not forcing to you to fold for them.  Hell I hate to be blunt and mean but if you think it is wrong just fold under your name and give your self a pat on the back.  Bottom line is EVGA and other teams alike have nothing to be ashamed of. What make EVGA's Folding team so grand is the people in it.  You will never find the kind of individuals all in one place like this.  You know how lucky you are to even know half these guys?
