I almost bought into the 980ti a few months ago, but with the looming 10 series waiting to be dropped I held off. Good thing because a GTX1080 is priced about the same as a 980TI and a LOT more performance. I wonder if the 9 series cards will plummet in price with the 10s pricing model?

Performance gains are yet to be seen.  Does everyone not always see the cherry picked benchmarks that both major producers always offer?  Real world numbers are never as good.  In fact, the 2X performance was specifically made regarding total advancements in virtual reality.

NDA lifts on the 17 May for the Founder's Edition, so we will see the true gains then.  I'm sure they are there, but don't get overly excited yet.  I think the biggest gains will be in power/performance ratios.

Since I don't watercool ever, is there an advantage to get a Classified? I almost never OC the GPU but seeing the OC potential of the launch demo made me tinkling... Would the Classified version be a crazy overclocker?

It's been shown more times than not, that the classified will be overclocked better for the factory overclock, but past that there is no guarantees for further overclocks.

    On my wishlist:
    - Obviously OC's up the wazoo
    - Better silicon OC consistency vs Maxwell (I know this is asking a lot)
    - Better ACX cooler (pretty sure this is already in the works)
    - More unique, identifying design (lets be honest, Classified cards have been pretty bland, especially compared to the KPE)
    - RGB LEDs
    - Integrated HW monitoring (DMM on the PCB) through PX (maybe even over bluetooth to smartphone) (not sure if this is possible)
    - Full cover EK waterblock support (VRM)
    - A better poster (seriously the robot thing is due for a change)
    - Unlocked voltage via BIOS edits

I always wanted to get a fancy EVGA card - either kingpin or classified. But they come soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long after launch - and then it is paper release and very low stocks. hopefully this time will be a little different :)

If I was a betting man I'd guess early July followed by K|NGP|N late July but the founders edition has thrown a quirk into the mix so it depends on how late they make us wait after the Founders edition release to give us the standard reference edition followed closely behind by SC and ACX reference editions. No doubt this years 17th anniversary will be an exciting time.

I have owned a lot of graphics cards, but never a classified. I just purchased and installed a 980ti CLASSIFIED and it literally dwarfs my 980 SC in size. I really like the card and it's performance - so I am with you on the CLASSIFIED cards.
Question - Are the CLASSIFIED versions of previous cards so much larger than the SC versions?

    I love the Classified cards.

Me to, but GTX1080 SC and Hybrid are great.
Off course Classified is nice because higher clock, better PCB from EVGA, their VRM, different look,...
I hope EVGA will launch GP100 Classified Hybrid or only Hybrid and than all customers will first wish EVGA model.
EVGA still didn't try to connect Classified and Hybrid in one model.

Yes, a classified hydro copper would be nice too or even better a kingpin hydro. They should add an option to choose the cooler that we want on these cards.

Since I don't watercool ever, is there an advantage to get a Classified? I almost never OC the GPU but seeing the OC potential of the launch demo made me tinkling... Would the Classified version be a crazy overclocker?

Not worth the expenditure for air cooling....get the FTW and be happy.
