Hi - new here.
I just got a 1070 Ti FTW2 and installed it in my older system to replace two ancient cards.  Motherboard is an older Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 (with a 3rd Gen i7) and the power supply is a Corsair HX750.

When I power this on with one monitor connected via HDMI, I get the Gigabyte BIOS screen, but no response from the keyboard (can't get into setup), and the motherboard beeps once every 10 seconds or so, forever.  If I read the Gigabyte stuff right, that means memory error.  Swap video cards back out and it boots right up.  I think I've done all the obvious -- card is seated properly, both 8-pin power cables plugged in correctly, plugged into a PCIe3.0 (x16) slot.  The LED bar on the card lights up and it's the only card in the system.

What am I missing here?  I know the motherboard BIOS is out of date, but I don't want to touch that if I don't have to, and not sure that could be the problem.  Any thoughts appreciated!

Welcome to the EVGA Forums

Copy your BIOS settings (camera on your phone works nice for this)

Clear the CMOS (check your MB manual for details)

Make sure power is unplugged from wall and PSU is discharged, when ever you add / remove hardware.

Confirm new GPU is seated - Locked - into PCIe slot

Hi and thanks for answering!
Reset the CMOS and no change -- I still get the Gigabyte signon screen, but it never gets to the part where it notices the CMOS has been reset.
Have verified that the card is locked in (tried both x16 slots).

Update your bios.

That fixed it -- upgraded from F2 (2012) to F7 (2014).  Thanks!!!!  Now, off to the driver disk.

Why would you use the 'driver disk' when the drivers on it are over a half decade old?  Save yourself some trouble and use updated drivers.

EVGA X99 FTWK / i7 6850K @ 4.5ghz / RTX 3080Ti FTW Ultra / 32GB Corsair LPX 3600mhz / Samsung 850Pro 256GB / Be Quiet BN516 Straight Power 12-1000w 80 Plus Platinum / Window 10 Pro
