According to that 3E means:
3E Test if 8259 Channel 1 interrupt bits are masked correctly by turning the interrupt lines on and off

I am not sure what exactly that means though.

I have not reflowed the NB at all, I think you're thinking of Tucker above, we have the same board and both have problems lol.

lol, Yeah, Sorry 'bout that,
Apparently I'm getting the comments for the two systems mixed up  due to the similar boards.

Well in the meantime here's a fun comparison:

GTX 295 Quad SLI (PhysX disabled, my best run from back in the day.)
http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/3405608
P35611

GTX 580 Classified @ 1040MHz (PhysX disabled)
http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/4949982
P33837

GTX 980 TI (PhysX disabled)
http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/5516174

It's a nice upgrade from GTX 580 3GB. Now if only my X58 board would work.

Then of course I had to see what my 980TI does.  http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/5516282

Yeah and a lot of the time it was AT or near 40-60% utilization, which I'm sure is partly why Awalleye's score above is so much higher. (Graphics score)

Well, For Giggles and Grins, As long as ya'll are comparing Awalleye's i7-6800K/4.200GHz/X99/Win 7 System with Halo's i7-3820K/4.232 GHz/X79/Win 10 System both running a Single GTX 980ti, I might as well throw my Secondary Rig in for comparison using my ambient water cooled i7-980/4.496GHz/X58/Windows 7 System with a Single GTX 980ti at stock speeds.

Looks like my graphics score is low, maybe due to being on Win 10?

In other news, the PS/2 keyboard was no help with the X58 OC, I wonder if it's something like a bad BIOS chip.

Doesn't your Gigabyte AC-X58-OC have a Dual BIOS, or have you already tried it?

Actually, What I meant to say is strip it down and throw it in the oven.

Pull heatsinks off and oven for what temp and how long? I've done a GPU before but never a board.

Edit: what would I do about the socket?

Re:Get It Colder......2 2016/09/28 13:00:18 (permalink)
I have also done this "procedure" a few times in the past with mixed results, But from what I remember, Here's How I did it:

If you want to Test this procedure First, Try it on a piece of other non-working hardware (PSU, Graphics card, etc...) just to see when the PCB solder starts to Flow.

Remove the CPU, heatsink & fan, RAM, BIOS battery, wires, speakers, stickers, plastic sticky guards, foam spacers, absolutely everything that can be removed from the motherboard. .
It is also a good idea to wrap additional foil around the more sensitive parts of the motherboard, like areas where there are Capacitors, PCIe sockets, RAM sockets, Other plastic non-removable parts and the CPU socket.

Place the MB (CPU Side Up) on balls of tin foil (between half an inch to an inch wide) on a baking tray.

Place the baking tray with the motherboard on it into a preheated oven at 200C / 385F.

After 8 minutes, turn the oven off and open the oven door.

Do not remove the motherboard from the oven at this stage as You may disturb the still semi-liquefied solder. Take care not to inhale any fumes that might be present.

After 20 minutes to half an hour, remove the cool motherboard from the oven and begin re-assembling. Hopefully, The problem is corrected and It will Boot up again.

If the problem remains, you could try the procedure again, leaving it in the oven for a couple of minutes longer or at a higher temperature.

It'll either work or it won't, But Nothing ventured, Nothing gained.

You could look on the Internet to view some actual Videos of this procedure before attempting this, But that is up to you.

Yes, It is a sad situation,

But When you've tried everything, And then tried everything again (Just to be sure you didn't miss anything)......It's just comes down to How Bad you want to get the Board to Work and what options are Left.

Back in the days, I went through FOUR NEW EVGA E759 X58 3-Way SLI Motherboards before I got one that would even POST!!

If I can't get it sorted and working I'll probably frame it on a wall, sell my other X58/X79 gear and buy an X99 SOC Champion with a 6900K (if they go to Intel Retail Edge this year), if not then maybe 6850K(?). It would be badass to scoop a 6900K for <$400.

Right now the i7-6900K is still over $1K New. That definitely would be Killer to get one for <$400!

I'll just be staying with my RVE and 5960X waiting on the Next "latest and Greatest" Graphics Card, Although having a 4-way SLI setup for Benching AND Gaming is a Mute Point and having to use just 2-way SLI?.......

I am hoping 6900K is on Retail Edge, last year was 5930K and something else... Summer was i5 6600K and i7 6700K, so if winter was i7 6900K and i7 7700K it would be sweet. I got a 980Ti in part because I can do TRI SLI with it.

If not then I don't know.

Got the new NB chip today but I need to wait until I get the proper hot air gun nozzle I ordered as well in order to have a successful install.

If this gets it working again it may even fix the PCIE power issues that it had which would be a nice bonus.

Just got this beast back from Drew after many month of work being put into it.  I popped one line, and rather than repair the line, he overhauled the entire system.  I need to pull the test bench so that I can connect this to the GPU/CPU and see about getting in some frigid benchmarks.  Unfortunately, election season currently has other plans for me, so I am too busy to do anything.

I haven't gotten around to doing the northbridge for my X58A-OC board yet, I need to fashion up a pcb pre-heater before I go ahead and change it out.

And I just fired up my chiller once again the other day!
This time I was freezing my HD 4870 and things got a little frosty for it and my pump.

GPU idled @ -16C and was about -4C under load, coolant was running at a chill -23C.

Nice, That's around the same temps I got when using an old Vapochill I adapted to fit a Titan X for testing awhile back.

So Retail Edge (thanks to a part time job) is out, is it worth getting one of the CPUs? 6850K for $199, 6700K for $135. I was thinking about doing the 6700K to be honest. What do you gentlemen think?

Talk about Low Prices! IMO Either one would be pretty equal for a gaming setup, Just depends on what you plan on using it for.

Sadly I've had to wander away from my Overclocking/Benching (as you might have noticed) and more toward gaming due to the lack of enjoyment-per-dollar obtained mainly due to the SLI/Software restrictions Nvidia uses with their latest High end/High Cost GPU's.

Well, This Holiday Season is definitely going downhill fast.........

I thought I would NEVER have to go through another "Loss of Posts" debacle like My Original EVGA "Get it Colder" Thread Posts that were deleted like I had happen back in October, 2009, But Now I Just found out that all the my Photos/Info from that date forward I had been using in my Private Website to Host my Photos and other info has been changed without notice to another site resulting in the Cancellation of my original website and Those Photos Also!

Now in All my previous Posts that I had referrals to Photos and other Info have been replaced with "X"'s and now NONE of my explanations showing pictures are No Longer There.
