The Dark looks nice but really only 3 GPU Support with EVGA Hydro Cooper Water Blocks.
Need that extra room on the Bottom for that 4th card. This was an issue on the X99 Classified MB as well.
With a 4th GPU with an Hydro Copper Water Block installed you do not have access to any items in red below.
All the Fan Headers are great at the bottom as well as the bottom right side.

My favorite X299 Design so far is the X299 Dark one 2nd Choice would be the mATX one.  Any Idea roughly when these will be available?

That is what I may be looking at as well but with only 3 Graphic Cards.
Unless a Classified Model comes out looking Dark.

It seems like there are only 2 USB headers as well as the front panel headers (power, reset, etc) that would be possibly be a problem with a 4th card.

As I posted above. The Hydro Copper Water Block will Cover what is marked in Red.

Also if you look the USB 3.0 Headers are not installed yet so they still have time to make changes.
See Video at about 8:40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mU09VpVqwA&t=0s

The Front Panel Headers are bent over a little as you can see in the image below.

I may switch to EVGA motherboards after all, I'll try one dark first before replacing all our rigs, where's the pre-order link?  Do these motherboards have pretty sparkling RGB lights?

Edit:  Adding an important question, which slots positions will two x16 GPUs will work in?  Wondering if I need to switch my EVGA HB SLI bridges.

X299 are Nice looking MBs

I'll agree that all the bottom of board connections would benefit being on their side, pointing outwards (90 degree) for the forth GPU - As not everyone with 4 GPU runs an open test bench

That's good because M.2 work above 90C in some moments.

My wife would never let me upgrade her motherboard if it doesn't come with the stars.  No 10GiB LAN on these though :(

Edit:  Unfortunately I can't use the dark on i9-7980XE since it says up to 12 cores, I hope it's just a firmware upgrade ugh.

You want CPU with 18 cores?
Better build nice new PC with Intel i9 10C/20T and 44 PCI-E lanes 4.5GHz Turbo 3.0 Cache.
That will be best option if AMD Treadripper decrease Intel's price.

My response to the fan on the chipset stands, however, I do like the fact that the m.2's are being cooled.

AMD let me down with only one x16 on the RYZEN 7 1800X CPU.
But Yes I would like at least 16/32 on my next rig.

Whoo Hoo about the X299 Micro board.. I was concerned if EVGA was canceling out the Micro boards.. I am now running X99 Micro.. I am curious though what CPU socket will it be running on?

I no longer own a Killer RIG except 2010 Mac Mini with old 30" Cinema Monitor until I build a new one...

My daughter now owns EVGA Z370 Classified, i7-8700K CPU 3.70GHz,  16GB Dominator Corsair, 1650GTX GPU Black n White Case.

Intel X299 chipset will not only be replacing the X99 chipset, but it would also introduce a new socket. The new socket will be required to support Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X processors. We have known this socket as LGA 2066. The name reveals that the socket will feature exactly 2066 pins. This is an increase of 55 pins from the previous socket. Since Skylake is architecturally different than Haswell and Broadwell, it was necessary to make the shift. Link

The new socket will span at least three generations of processors, Skylake, Kaby Lake and Cannonlake. Intel will only need to update it when they introduce their Ice Lake architecture based processors which would be around 2020. That new socket would be known as LGA 2076, more details on that here.

Re: EVGA X299 Motherboards! 2017/05/30 16:57:55 (permalink)
Jacob will you guys be releasing the manuals for these boards soon? I'm really interested in PCIe lane allocation of the X299 Dark. Like how many lanes will be available to the 3rd slot down? If i had a 44 lane CPU could I use GPUs in slots 1-3-6 at 16x/8x/8x and also still have full use of m.2s? Also what about 28 CPUs? Could I use 1-3-6 @ 8x/8x/8x and still have 4x for an m.2? I really hope the 3rd slot will do 8x at least and not be limited to 4x like some other companies. Last round EVGA was the only company to allow this slot to perform at 8x and I hope you guys kept it that way for the x299 Dark. It allows for optimal airflow with a slot between each card when you have 3. Thanks dude.

I'm thinking it might be a good strategy not to buy the new big core count processors from Intel and get the 6 or 8 core processors (10 max). If Intel suffers some more with AMD Threadripper I bet the Cannonlake 16, 18 (maybe even 20?) core processors will be much cheaper (and probably faster because of the 10nm) and we can just upgrade keeping the motherboard and everything else.

Re: EVGA X299 Motherboards! 2017/05/30 17:26:24 (permalink)
Finally X299 is here!  I've been PATIENTLY waiting to do a complete ground up build to finally phase out my X58!  Still rocking the good old trusty X58 Classified 3 and loved every minute with it and maybe I don't even need to upgrade but I've been feeling itchy and they said it wasn't crabs!

First gen i7 was a great time to invest in a new socket and I'm getting a similar vibe with the i9, LGA 2066.  I've squeezed every last drop of performance out of this thing.  Started with an i7 920, GTX285, and 6GB ram back in 09!  On to an overclocked 6 core/12 thread Xeon X5650 at 4.4Ghz, 16GB Corsair Platinum OC'd to 2000MHz, PCI-E Hyper X Predator 480GB SSD pulling 1300MB/s reads and 1000MB/s writes (who said you need SATA3 and M.2 for fast storage!), all the way to a FTW3 1080Ti that's coming with me to X299 world with an ultrawide Predator Z35P I'm about to pull the trigger on.

Good times lie ahead just need to wait for some smaller boards since I've done the E-ATX full tower thing next is a mid tower at best so either ATX or micro just need to find a good home for the FTW3 that will fit cause she's a big girl and currently living with her foster parents and I'm not sure they're getting along that great.  Kinda like a teen living with their 90 year old grandparents.  They're just not on the same page.

Re: EVGA X299 Motherboards! 2017/05/30 19:17:39 (permalink)
So, since no one has asked it yet, why does the X299 Dark only have four memory slots?!! Isn't it supposed to be the top of the line board?

Really want to see the spec sheets, manuals, and high-res pictures so we can see how the PCI-e lanes breakdown. I'm really hoping that the m.2 slots don't disable any PCI-e slots; with 44 lanes, there's plenty of lanes to do that.

So, since no one has asked it yet, why does the X299 Dark only have four memory slots?!! Isn't it supposed to be the top of the line board?

Supposedly a single DIMM slot per channel allows for higher clocks. Check out JayzTwoCents explanation here: https://youtu.be/4WgDjUGUeR4?t=112

Really want to see the spec sheets, manuals, and high-res pictures so we can see how the PCI-e lanes breakdown. I'm really hoping that the m.2 slots don't disable any PCI-e slots; with 44 lanes, there's plenty of lanes to do that.

Better Overclocking on the CPU with Less Memory Banks.
I will just go with 4 16GB Memory Sticks.
Ballistix Sport LT 64GB Kit (16GBx4) DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) DR x8 DIMM 288-Pin - BLS4K16G4D26BFSE (Red)
May even get away with Ballistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) DR x8 DIMM 288-Pin - BLS2K16G4D26BFSE (Red)
I need at lest 32GB but would like to have 64GB
This to looks nice.
Corsair LPX 32GB (2x16GB) 3200MHz C16 DDR4 DRAM Memory Kit, Black (CMK32GX4M2B3200C16)

So I have dug through this a bit and dont see it anywhere. Whats the skinny on M.2 bootable raid 0 still bottlenecked by DMI 3.0?

X399 Designare EX, Threadripper 1950x, Overkill Water 560mm dual pass radiator. Heatkiller IV Block Dual 960 EVO 500gb Raid 0 bootable, Quad Channel 64gb DDR4 @ 2933/15-16-16-31, RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, Corsair RM850x, Tower 900
