Oh my, the post was so nice I had to post it twice.

That's okay, it was funnier the second time.

that is... if I cared about the tree.  As a general respect to mother nature I dont want the tree to die, but there are millions of other right next to it.  I have seen strange growths where a limb dies, and the tree grows around it.  Life is persistent.
NOW... here is the MOAB  (mother of all burls!)

Looks like you might need to "borrow" a tank to pull that one out Nate

I still saw go for the C4, 20lbs should work!

Ive wanted a woodshop/small sawmill for years, anyone got $50K.
Be able to scratch build using no metal screws would be fun.

wood pegs/dowels, dovetail cutouts, and laying the wood. Some of the old stuff Ive seen, they didnt even have to use wood glue.

always. i bought a deer cart to haul away those monstrocities. i will make a sample set of 1911 handles though. it will a while until those hundred pound ones are dried enough to use though.

I am 2 days into the burl removal.  It does make me wonder how people kill a 400lbs deer and get them out of the woods.  One section was too heavy for me to lift so I left it.  Going to bring a come-along tomorrow.

How huge are these burls?
*edit: Never mind I just saw where you wrote "think perhaps shoebox size and under".

well yes, that is about an average size.  I do have some larger, and obviously smaller.  Here is one example of a larger one:

How my girls are trying to move it, is exactly how I got it to move.  I drug it through the woods on a rope.  pulled about 4-5 ticks off me that day.  Earlier this week in fact.

But here is a small example of a wedding ring I made for myself:

Through its a matter of thinking to me but i liked these too much ...they  so cuteeeeee  :D
