i have a r5 3600 and in modern warfare  cold war im getting decent fps but afterburner showing only low 70% gpu usage so would better cpu give me more usage % and more fps. graphics card evga rtx 2080 ti xc ultra.

The new 5xxx chips have very good IPC and your board could probably use one with at most a bios update.

I'd check that out first. I am not a fan of upgrading from a low/migrade cpu to a higher end one on the same mobo using the same series. The gain won't be that substantial.

You'll get way more bang for your buck if you go all in with a high end pick on the next generation of cpu.

Even if you end up having to buy a new motherboard to hold it all together I think the gains to be had would be quite big, more than enough to justify the extra $125 - $175 imho.

And you can always repurpose old cpu/mobos into htpc for a media center, 2 pc streaming/recording/multi tasking system, etc. or sell online.
