I recently bought a new evga gtx 760 2gb with acx cooling. I installed it with no problems, however, when I attempt to boot my computer, it does not go beyond the startup screen. As well as this, my motherboard beeps with the same pattern each time: 3 short beeps, with about 25 seconds in between each beep, then 1 beep quickly followed by 3 rapid beeps, before my screen goes blank. I made sure to install the latest bios too before putting in the new card.

My specs:
Intel core i7 2600
Corsair cx600m 600w psu
Kingston hyperx blu 16gb (2x8gb)
Cleveland GL8 motherboard (the motherboard in an hp pavilion elite 575a)

When putting back the old graphics card, it boots up with no problems. I hope this 760 isn't broken or faulty.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Let try putting back the old graphics card and do update BIOS after update complete to shut down system and remove wall for 10mins! After 10mins do try test on New GPU card to boot up? If not working can you try test New GPU Card on to other system?

I just updated the bios and then proceeded to unplug the computer for 10 minutes. Put the new card in again, and still I get the exact same problem, shows the start up screen, does the same beep pattern and then goes blank.

And sadly I cannot test the card on a different computer.

Do you have the correct power connectors fitted ?

your PSU should be fine, it is above the minimum spec and has all the correct cables

you should be using both of your modular cables (both are 6 pin + 2 pin) you need 1 to use both the 6 + 2 pin config and the second to only use the 6 pin

Yes I have definitely used both modular cables in the correct configuration, and have made sure they are properly plugged in, but it still does not work.

Mine didn't work either, but i took out the card and booted with just the Intel HD CPU graphics into BIOS and changed the PCI setting to legacy support from the default. Then shut down, reinstalled my GPU and booted fine. Hope this helps.

My bios doesn't appear to have an option for PCI legacy mode :s

Dandeh, did you ever find a fix for your problem?  I have almost exactly the same configuration that you do, and exactly the same problem with the same card.

Call it a fix if you will, but the only way to get it working is to invest in a new motherboard. I took my pc to a technician to get it checked and apparently the GL8 motherboard either does not support the voltage required to power the card, or it has a limit on the power supply wattage it can support (forgive me, but I cannot quite remember what he said). Anyway, one new motherboard and a fresh install of windows later, the card runs perfectly fine.

Thats what I was afraid of.  I'm not interested in a mobo upgrade, so I'm going to return it and give a 650 Ti a try.  Thanks for the info, happy gaming!

Hey guys sorry for bringing up such an old thread, and would appreciate it if you responded, but i have identical systems to both of you, and i assume both of you also had 300 watt psu's before purchasing the new card. Anyway, i recently bought the gtx 760 and it does the exact same thing as you stated, was it a hassle to replace your mobo?, and did you have to alter the size of your stock case too? (assuming you also had the pavilion p7-1010a)

    thanks
