Anybody here own LCD monitors. Never mind. Of course you do. But the question is do any of you get these popping/cracking sound after you turn the monitor off after a period of time of using them. I hear them in mine after every use and am just wondering should I be worried or should I get new ones?

yes it happens all the time with my Asus, but not so much on my Samsung

I wouldn't worry about it though.

My 24" sammy does it fairly often. It used to make me jump but I have gotten used to it. Plastic and parts expanding and contrasting at different rates I image is all...

I get the same thing on my 26" Acer all the time , I would not worry it's just something cooling down and moving.

Yeah, I figure it would be something like that. Probably would be the most logical answer other than why don't you take it apart and see... lol. When I first started getting those noises I'd jump and quickly look in the back and take a wiff to see if something was burning. Had to ask just to make sure I wasn't the only one experiencing this.

Hey haha, It's always scared the crappers out of me.. I just never bothered to ask.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster B2430HD and it does it too, I had an asus before this one and it did the same thing.... The only one that didn't do it for me was when we had DLP's haha.

You have a very serious and unsafe problem here. Please box up your monitor and send it to me and I'll dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manor (on my desktop) The Sammy 22" tv in the kitchen does it sometimes and scared the poop out of us the first few times it did it.

Heard it all the time on my Viewsonic 20" as the CCFL lamp heats up and expands the metal and plastic over time and then contracts when it cools down. Basic physics kids.....

doesn't swiffer use a positive charge to grab on to the neg charged dust (or something like that)?  In other words, I'd stick with compressed air - less chance of bridging a capacitor or shorting something out.

I personally compress my own air:P  I use a large syringe bulb. I suppose a fireplace/blacksmithing bellows would work too, as would an official air compressor or pump for inflating tires.
