Some new benchmarks..
Looks like it's not 3x more powerful than GTX 580. Not even 2x.

woa! nice. Those figures seem pretty accurate. I was expecting it to be roughly around there but a little better. Maybe it's too early, let's see what the other benchs look like in the near future.

Picture label is way off.   17.18 x 18.55 cm. for die size???  seems like the Chinese(?) missed the (mm.) boat.

actually the heaven benchmark is weird though.
GTX 580 there scored 34 fps. GTX 680 scored 46.5 fps.

My GTX 480 2-way SLI scored 73 fps using the same settings.
So if I use a single GTX 480, my score would have been about half of it, which is 36 fps (already more than GTX 580 LOL).

And my CPU is only i7 950 @3.8 GHZ. That benchmark used i7 3960X!!!

Note: If the rumor is true about GTX 660 with 2 GB VRAM, then buying 2 of these would have been a better choice than a single GTX 680 with the same VRAM.

i wonder how well this overclocks. we all know the 7970 overclocks pretty high off the stock clocks. I wonder how close they are to each other once maxed out.

I already know my system and gpu at stock trashed  it in the heaven benchmark, 3dmark 11 it only beat my score by a bit, overclocked my system beat it hands down, but im sure if it got oced it would prob beat my score only due to only being able to oc/up voltage so much. Against 2x 580's though a 680 is not as fast as the two cards. Looks to be the 9 series all over again. AMD didnt have much go against the top end real kepler card so to save $$$ on production, along with maxiumum profits NVIDIA is releasing the slowest Keplerthat beats AMD's top card and marking it as the GTX 680... Of course they going to charge a premium for it.

your 2 480s will probably out perform the 680 GTX.. unless your planning on getting 2.

Based on the leak benchmarks, I think GTX 680 is around 60% faster than GTX 480. So yeah literally 2-way SLI GTX 480 is still faster, but some games still don't have good SLI performance. Plus a 500 MB VRAM is a bonus, but it's still not enough. 2 GB is just...lame!

I think there will be. $650 - $700 price for sure.

If you don't run several monitors, 2GB is plenty.  You could always purchase a 7970 or wait for a partner card with more VRAM.  Do you run a multi monitor gaming setup?

For me, I don't have multi monitor gaming setup. But I still think 2 GB is small for $550 next gen card. I mean, this is the card that we'll be using until the next-next generation card is available (maxwell, probably 2014).

Well, I was asking you after your comment of 2GB being lame.  I just can't see someone who games at 19x10 needing more than 2GB of video memory.  Now, if you game on 3, it's a different story.

Wonder if those claims that the GTX 680 were right about it being 45% faster than the *cough*HD 7970*cough* that I've been eyeing for the better part of the last two months or so.   Don't worry, I plan to be loyal to EVGA, and go back to nVidia graphics.  AMD graphics were nice when Windows 7 first launched, but right now...  It's about time I went back to being a GeForce Junkie again.

You're gonna have to wait until 2014. There will be a delay for GTX 700 series. Guaranteed! 3 - 6 months just like usual.
Your 3x GTX 580 will not last that long due to VRAM limitation. Unless u have 3 GB version.
