if the new suk is only halving ETH mining I don't think it will help much. Most of the more educated miners are already switching to other coins which may not seem to be that profitable right now but may get them rich when the value rises. Now you can mine a lot of these coins relatively easy and later sell them with huge profits...

The LHR will only deter new miners or those who are still dedicated to only ETH.

Highly doubt it will reduce the que. The que is really backed up and sadly there isn't much to do to get it into it now.

Personally I dont think its gonna make the queue faster short term but its definitely gonna make a difference long term unless they somehow manage to crack the Nvidia LHR versions so they are fully functional for mining which I hope does not happen.

I believe there will be a new queue since these cards will have different SKUs.

The current plan is to migrate the existing queue into the new LHR parts when they are available.

So the big question is, who is doing the migrating? Is this a nice way of saying we're all going to just have to get back in line ourselves? Or is EVGA actually going to migrate the line themselves keeping your place in line?

Give it a couple weeks and hackers will un-do their "fix" yet again.

But it will be important to know for sure which fixes actually work if bricking your card is that much more of a risk now - especially dropping the kind of money they're asking for on these cards. Flashing BIOS has always been a bit of Russian roulette. These LHR measures seem to be like adding a couple more bullets to gun first too

The demand is far too high for it to matter as much as people hope it will.

If more than a handful of Nvidia employees know how the LHR is implemented, at least one of them has been bribed already. The knowledge will get out & it'll be hacked in a manner of weeks.

For the near future, they will still be super limited to get one in stock

According to Linus Tech Tips miners only make a small contribution to the shortage of cards

I don’t think it will matter. If anything the 3080 will resell high and the 3080Ti will also sell for a high price after it sells out which we all know will happen.

The real problem is the 3080 had a huge markup in by scalpers. The 3080Ti might not have the same percentage of a mark up because it’s got a mining limit in place but when you start talking about $300 more over MSRP for a scalped 3080Ti it’s out of the price range of a lot of gamers anyway.

I wonder how much the performance will be impacted in gaming applications. Guess we'll have to wait and see
