I tried 4.5gz with AVX ratios at 0
    vcore 1.20 with a +75 offset.

Runs stable. temps are a bit too high, especially when a game its %100 CPU utilization. Temps jump up to 75c-80c
Running on Auto clock ratio and vcore the processor can run between 4.3ghz and 4.4ghz with Intel turbo boost within reasonable temps.

I'm planning on running with auto settings since the performance to heat ratio makes more sense.

With 12 cores on a 14nm die the heat issue is to be expected. If Intel can manage to get their desktop CPUs at 10nm next year that will help to lesson this issue. What type of cooling are you using?

yeah this cpu gets a little toasty.  i'm running mine at 4.7 all cores with a 1.27 vcore atm on a corsair h150i rgb pro and still tweaking the numbers.  handbrake hit mid 80's but haven't tried games yet, will later today.

    I'm running a custom loop:

Does going to a smaller die size help with decreasing heat? it seems like over the gen's of CPU's the smaller they've gone the higher the heat issues?

Usually yes, smaller transistors are more efficient but that doesn't always mean it will run cooler. Intel could very well take that power savings and increase performance at the same heat and power.

The issue Intel is having now is they have been stuck at 14nm for way longer than they anticipated so to keep up with AMD at 7nm they are really pushing 14nm to the limit.

I had a i9 10940X for a couple weeks but decided to sell it and just keep my i9 7960X. The 10940X did clock a little higher but not enough to overcome lacking 2 cores and 4 threads from the 7960X.

Core i9-10900K might be what you're looking for but I think (not sure) that also requires a new motherboard.

10900K is going to be LGA 1200 which is the successor to the current LGA 1151 and yes will require a new motherboard. I wanted to see what the new 10 series chips could do in regards to overclocking with their soldered IHS and more refined 14nm process. And while it could indeed clock on average 200Mhz higher than my 7960X it wasn't enough in terms of clock speed to be really worth it. It wasn't that I was "looking" for something per se, more just curious I guess. If I wanted the absolute current "best gaming performance" I could just go back to my 9900K setup. Like I said it was more just curiosity, I was browsing Newegg and saw it was available so I grabbed it

It also didn't hurt that when I sold it the auction went for far higher than what I paid from Newegg

Nice! Make sure to update your mod rigs with the new set-up. We're only 50 or so rigs away from getting a drawing. I'd love to see some 3DMark scores.

Oh if that's the case, I'll make a page for my VR rig and run a few quick benches to make it official.

Try Bottom Line Telecommunications, they have 21 in stock as I'm typing this.  They're where I got my 10920x from.  Search goolge for shopblt since I can't post a link.

    Thank you Sir!

Havent done any bench's yet. Just gaming =)

pretty happy letting Intel's turbo boost Max tech handle it. I only really like to game and build rigs.

I'm curious what your temperatures were when running @4.3, please? I'm testing my 10900X @4.3 at the moment so I'm curious how two of them are stacking up temperatures wise.

I'm still running the cores on auto and vcore set at 1.200 with a +100 offset.

Eleet and Intel CPU Tool shows 3 cores running at 4.7 another 3 cores running at 4.4 and rest at 4.3
the vcore hits 1.54v under 100% CPU load and temps at around 62-65c

Here is someone running his at 4.8 GHZ.  I have had my doubts about upgrading.  Even though the chips are soldered vs Skylake-X, the TDP increase will increase heat.

I'm really happy with this chip. Compared to the 7820x delidded i was running the 10920x runs faster , has 4 more cores and runs way more cooler. Running at 4.2ghz on the 7820x under load the chip would hit 80c

I am able to get the 7820X to 4.6 all cores.  Have to play with mesh and voltage (1.17 works best...locked).  Temps stay in the 70's at load.  What bios are you running for 10920X?

on the same custom loop the 10920x runs all day long at 65c under full load at these core speeds" /> thats 4 more cores running significantly faster and cooler then when I was on the 7820x. Even after delidding the 7820x I was shocked at how bad the temps were on it at such a low speed of 4.2ghz

    Dustin...

I wonder how it would do with AIO.  I have the EVGA 280 and thus far...good things.  The 10920X is the first level upgrade from the 7820X.  The 10900X is only a two core upgrade...where you upgraded to 4 more cores...most logical...The chip I am most interested in is the 10920X.  My upgrade would only be the chip, vs jumping to AMD 3900X or 3950X.  Downside to the AMD upgrade is that the Ryzen are reported to not work well with XMP when you have more than two chips on the board.  I have four, because of Quad Channel.  Gonna keep an eye on the 10920X and see what more people are reporting.  What is your best with all cores running at the same speed?

I have the 10920x running on a MSI Creator X299 @ 4.8 all cores @ 1.26 and mesh taps @ 3200 and with Gskill Royal DDR 4000 c17 32 gigs all other voltages are auto and its rock solid. Im using a H115i Plat RGB for cooling. I also had a 10900x for about a week and the 10920x seems to OC just a little better, could of just been the chip I got because in MSI bios it had 1 core quality only 1 star were as my 10920x are all 4 star or above. You can view the mod rigs for a few 3dmark results if you want.

Looks pretty good.  How are your temps at 1.26?

Gaming wise it stays around 55-62c with balance profile on AIO. 3Dmark CPU test hits low to mid 70s, AIDA 100% CPU stress can get a little toasty at 80C at 100% load. When I had the first 2 @ 5.1 and rest at 4.9 it got in the mid 80s and that was also with a x32 mesh. Anything under 4.8 seems to be stable at just 1.22, but 4.8 @ 1.24 I got random drops to desktop, MSI overclock wants to put core @ 1.25 for a 5.1/4.8 oc. I have every PCI slot populated, have to have my soundcard and the extra 2 m.2s. I have 4 of the 5 drives in 2 separate RAID-0, though I cant say it was really much of increase from what I came from a 8 core which I ran 4.7 on all 8 with 30 mesh. I want to say my 9900x ran about the same temps at 4.7.
