Hope it works out - if you are stable I'm sure between a few of us we can help you tighten things up to get some more juice out of your config.

So I take it the OP is still running 2000mhz for his RAM speed. You are going to brick your HDDs. Just a matter of time before it happens. Don't believe me? Just ask heavyhemi who tested it and on the first boot in bricked his drive. That being said you will NOT become stable until you link and sync. And the board is only compatable with 2000mhz RAM with Overclocking. You need to follow the suggestions given to you. If you ask for help why are you ignoring the advice? All yoru bios templates are showing you have ignored what you have been told. You need to be running linked and synced.

@micah_675 i think you misunderstand me. I wrote that i use the settings from test 2-2 and that the settings where are the linked and synced option used. I cannot see your images. I am currently at work. Honestly with the memory you have you could definitely drop your timings down since your running 1333. I would bet you could run a CAS of 7 with no issues, possibly a CAS of 6.

You need to manually input your RAM timings and not use "Optimal". I would also use Auto for P1 & P2 since you are running at 1333.3Mhz.

@VistHead Ok, i set P1 and P2 to AUTO. Which memory timings i have to input manually? The "Memory Timing Settings" and the "Advanced Memory Settings" or only the "Memory Timing Settings"? To which values?: The values that was printed on the modules (9-10-9-27-2T, i think this values are only for 2000Mhz) or the values that are come from the Optimal Settings (9-9-9-24-1T) for 1333Mhz/LS?

Manually set the Memory Timings Settings. Normally I would say use the manufacturer's recommended timings and voltage, but since you are using 8GB of low voltage RAM, I say manually set them to 9-9-9-24 that the BIOS is providing to start. You may be able to tighten them some since you are underclocking them. It would really help if you would post a completed BIOS template, to include the values that "auto" is providing for any BIOS settings. Just showing portions of your settings makes it hard to assist you since the settings are all tied to one another.

I don't understand what you are asking in the following: CPU Core: [1.25000] 1.20V ??? (different from the value that i set manually) In post #39, your CPU Core, CPU FSB, and MCP voltages were on Auto, with the BIOS providing the voltage setting. The CPU Core voltage being supplied by the BIOS on auto was 1.20v, and I had you manually set it to 1.25v. The 790i series boards are more stable with the System Voltages being manually set, vice allowing the BIOS to supply the voltage by having the setting on auto.

@Vistahead please, don't be angry about me. It's not easy for me to say exactly what i mean because of my English. I'm so happy about the help that I got here. I set all the voltage like you described. The only thing that I'm wonder about it is the the bios "said" is set manually to Setting [1.25000] but shows as Current Value 1.20V

To answer your question, the 790i Ultra has VDroop, which is just what it sounds like, you may set the voltage to 1.25v, but the actual applied voltage "droops" to 1.20v. The 790i FTW Digital and Analog boards addressed this by adding the ability to enable or disable VDroop control. A technical explanation of VDroop can be read in the following link. http://www.thetechreposit...m/showthread.php?t=126

> Sounds to me like you're getting nice and stable - congrats! Glad everyone has been able to help you out. :-) Yes, i have a very good and optimistic feeling now. The "normal" situation with the old settings was a freez inside the first hour and maybee one or two more. And now, the last 2 days no one freez. @VistsHead I read what you are linked about Vdroop. I don't understood realy all the details. But I understood Vdrop is adjusted by the cpu or chipset to reduce the spikes during signal changes.

nice work guys :) sorry for rezzing this old thread, but I believe that information posted in this very thread is VERY informational and helps optimizing 790 boards and 45nm Quad chip efficiency Just wanted to say THANK YOU to tt0ne for posting GTLVREF settings -35 on all lanes at 1800MHz. it worked for my Q9450 and I was able to lower VTT from 1.3 to 1.2V and it's stable 13 passes stable under MemTest86+ 2.11! I also learned (thanks VistaHead!) that my memory Patriot Viper 2x2GB EPP kit rated at 2000MHz can actually use as little as 1.7V at 1800MHz (using CAS8 timings) instead of 1.9V that I was feeding it with for past 2 years now need to see if I can lower vcore and SPP to save energy and cool down some temps further (optimizing my 3.6GHz overclock, as I'm not getting i7 setup anytime soon) Also kinda crucial information for me was relate to P1/P2 settings, I had always used to run them enabled above 1333MHz, thinking it's good for overclocking. in fact it was only forcing me to use juice from SPP (raising higher it's voltage). will do some more testing, seems I could lower SPP by simply disabling P1/P2 at 1800MHz and re-testing memory performance. I guess we always keep learning, big thumbs up for information in this thread!
