Hi all, I recently went with a 2080 super hydro copper to pair with my 9900k... The cpu is running at 5.1 and loving this setup... Using the Precision software for some overclocking... A while back, I think it was my 970? I was able to overclock using software finding the most stable settings, then I was able to export the bios, edit it to the clock speeds I wanted and then reflash the card.... Just to avoid having to use software to OC... Is that possible with the newer card? I can't seem to find much info on it..... Thanks!

No there is no bios editor for the 10 or 20 series Nvidia cards, I don't think we will ever see a bios editor for the Nvidia cards again in my opinion.

Also, make sure to use the newer PX1 with this GPU and not the old Precision software.

Thanks both of you... That's what I was assuming... I do have the newest Precision X1 software... And while I don't mind it, I just prefer to be as minimalist as possible... So it was nice when we could edit the bios... Not a big loss, this card is awesome...

Should be pretty easy to take your CPU up to 5.3 to try .

You think so? :) I had a 9900K that couldn't pass occt on frequencies higher than 4.8ghz ;) It took 1.35v for 5ghz and either was hot like hell or not enought voltage to work stable. While my current 9900ks takes 1.25-1.27 for 5ghz and 1.35 is enough for 5.2ghz.

The k gets a lot hotter than the ks My last k could easily hit 100 then throttle it's tits off . Ks seems to run cooler,my one does any way.

That's pretty much up there no matter what. For benchmarks if the silicon allows it, understandable but I think that will degradate the silicon as you'll need a good pump of voltage. Majority won't get those kind of numbers for the time being no matter what you're using it for.

Just try using intel extreme tool. Start at 5.3 @ 1.355 and every time it crashes , give it a fraction more until stable. My one will run 5.3 @ 1.355 which isn't that high . Try it , what do you have to lose . I get 5.5 @ 1.435 just for reference. Your CPU will throttle back or crash your pc before any damage occurs . I wouldn't OC all the time , just for benchmarking . You won't kill your cpu. Up to you , your chip but it will go higher .

I have my chip at 5.1 right now with 1.32v in bios... With LLC set at level 6 I will definitely push it harder as I have time... It runs pretty cool even at 5.1 so I know there's more room... I have the new EK waterblock on it with a triple radiator... Tons of fans in the case too so air flow isn't an issue... So far tho, 5.1 serves my needs and then some, so I haven't really felt the need to push harder other than having fun fine tuning things... I've mainly been working on my RAM OC lately and tuning the timings.... My 9900k is awesome, so I don't think all the good ones got made into a KS....
