That's great news! Any idea of when the boards will be available in Europe?
Thanks,

DigiTimes
Intel's 8-series chipsets, designed for Haswell-based processors, are seeing defects in their USB 3.0 feature, and although Intel has distributed fixed chipsets to motherboard and notebook players in July, products are unlikely to show up until September or October, according to sources from PC players.
The USB 3.0 ports of the 8-series chipsets will become unworkable after entering or leaving Windows sleep mode, the sources explained.
Compared to the defect issue with Intel's 6-series chipsets, the problem with the 8-series is a lot better, it has a rather low occurrence rate and can only occur under Windows 8, the sources said.
However, since the defects are not the cause of weak demand, even with the fix, consumer demand may still have trouble picking up in September, the sources noted.

I'd like to buy exactly Z87 Classified motherboard from EVGA, but I tire of waiting for Z87 mobo sales start.
I already have got all parts except motherboard.
Well, let's wait a bit more.

So if they aren't already on their way then we can expect another 2-3 weeks if they shipped today to be sold?

The main reason Intel to introduce C2 8X chipsets is that mainstream chipsets do not block overclocking functionality. Therefore, you can overclock your haswell K-series even on B85 chipset mobo, that goes counter intel's plans.

All these stories about errors in Win 8 - it's just for the press.
Of course they exist, but not a main reason there is.

Yeah, will a european release date be close to the US release? Or could we look at a 2 month delay for us?

I just can't believe there's still not a price point for these boards. Back in June I was committed to getting a Z87 platform, but I'm glad I waited. Since we most likely wont see these boards until August, I'm just going to wait a month and grab a X79 dark and a 4930k in September.

IB-E will be capable to OC on 4.8GHz maybe more.
No cheap paste inside Intel Extreme and Xeon.
They are design for constant working, not as gaming mainstream rigs usually under 50%.
People use that and 100% load, every day, all day...
No joking with that.
But I expect better and better batches and Haswell.
At least bigger percent stable on 4.5GHz in normal temps.

July was our best guess at the time because that is approx when the chipset schedule was. (Remember we are using a new chipset revision for our Z87)

I can say now that the chips are on the way, so its pretty close now.

It is a good bet they will release then since the ROG Formula VI and impact are set to release the first week of august and they use the C2 chip too.

Re:Z87 motherboards release date? 2013/07/26 07:17:44 (permalink)
I have to tell you all.  I've also been waiting for the release of the z87 boards as well.  But, the additional time has given me alot more time to research the whole build.  I am running the x58 classified 3 with a 980x and 580. Everything is water cooled including the CPU, Chipset, and GPU.  There really isn't anything at this point I can throw at it that cannot handle.  The z87 though very appealing espicaly with the new UEFI.  But, whem you really take a look at the overall preformace gain over the X58, though better,  the z87 performance it is not impelling enough for me to upgrade.  I think the thing really to do is wait for the next gen chip set X99 or whatever they will call it. The X58 has served me very well and though I there are a few things I would have like see different ie the Marvell controller.  Ther version on my board in a word "stinks".  But, in the grander scheme of things it all works pretty well.  I am still itching to build a new rig but, at this point I've decided to sit out on the Z87 platform.

The only thing the wait for these motherboards did for me was make me realize I don't want to upgrade to Z87. I will be going X79 dark with a 4930k in September. Considering this will only be about 250-300 more than a 4770k and z87 classified, why not? That's going to feel more like an upgrade to me I hope.

I just can't get on board with building a new system and potentially a custom water loop to be able to maybe reach 4.5 ghz.

That is smart thinking. 4930K, X79 Dark and 4x4 2133MHz is excellent upgrade.
But Z87 Classified is somehow nice motherboard too.
