I have a new build that keeps randomly crashing and restarting while giving a 9C post code.

There is nothing connected USB wise besides a keyboard and mouse.

Thanks.

For the 9c post code... make sure your bios is up to date, try plugging your keyboard & mouse into another set of usb ports, try using a completely different keyboard & mouse if you have them, try reseating the cpu, & inspect the cpu socket for bent pins while you're in there.

Random crashing/restarting could be caused by faulty ram. I'd suggest you test all your ram with memtest86. Make sure you test all your ram modules individually with the others completely removed from the system.

Hello TSand and welcome to the forums

To add on what Sajin stated, it sounds like you may have an unstable CPU overclock or unstable XMP setting. Are you currently running any CPU overclocks or do you have XMP enabled in BIOS? Try running with those settings set to default to see what they do for you. Wouldn't hurt for you to provide your full system specs either so that we may further help you out as well!

Quick update...I've tested the memory and reinstalled windows from scratch.
At this point, the computer will still reboot randomly and sometimes reboot itself immediately again.  Also, the computer will lock screen randomly, and when you power it back up I'm getting a 9 beep post code.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

"9 beep post code" ROM BIOS checksum failure. (Replace your Battery) I had to do this on my FTW MB even being new.
Remove all but one Memory Stick
    Change to a different Bios
Turn on the Computer and Press and Hold the Red Button to reset the Motherboard back to the Defaults for a count of 5 or 6.
You will need to press the F12 Key to enter into the Bios, if your F12 Key is not working then set your KB Switch to Bios Mode and repeat the above.
Download the latest Bios and update put on a USB Flash Drive (Unzip to the Flash Drive)
Then While you are in the Bios update the current Bios complete and the computer will restart and enter back into the Bios.
After the computer restart enter back in to the Bios and change back to the bad Bios and update the Bios.
Enter back into the Bios and set your setting (Keep the CPU and Memory @ Auto) you want to use save and restart and see how the OS is.
Power Off Change that One Memory Stick out for the next and do this until you have checked all your Memory Sticks.
Once Complete then add all your memory back that is if all of them passed the above.
Enter back into the Bios and then set the Memory to XMP1 Profile save and reboot and see how the OS is.
Not enter back into the Bios and now set your CPU to 40 save and restart and see how the OS is.

    What is the Part Number of your "G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 SDRAM 2400 (PC4 1920)" Memory?

Does the system continue to randomly reboot when only using the igpu with the 670 completely removed from the system?

I have the 1070 back in the system and have tried the 2nd BIOS (1.05) and the issue remains.... usually giving a 7 beep code.
I'm going to Flash the BIOS again.

Now I'm getting a cmos checksum error flashing the BIoS. I've tried several times and the computer keeps rebooting itself during the flashing process.

That definitely shouldn't be happening. It should only reboot after it has completed the flash.

It starts the reboot, but doesn't even post before rebooting 3 or 4 more times, then 7 beeps and a CMOS error.

7 Reset Protocol is not available
Did you reset the Bios back to the Default before updating to the Current Bios?
Power off the Power Supply then after all the lights on the MB go out remove the Battery from the MB
Leave the 1070 installed Only the 1070
Remove all the Memory but one and that would go in Slot 2 (When you add the Second Memory Stick put it in Slot 4)
Wait 5 minutes place the Batter back in the Motherboard and Power on and reenter into the Bios.
Disable CSM F10 Save and restart and enter Back into the Bios.
Save a Profile and Call it Clean Save it Press F10 Save and Restart and boot up to the Desktop.

"but doesn't even post before rebooting 3 or 4 more times"
The Bios may be trying to Train your Memory and is why it restarts a few time ALLOW IT TO COMPLETE THIS PROCESSS.

I know the CPU isn't overheating based on HWmonitor.  Does this board not have a sensor on the 12V line?
