Hi all, new here, I recently bought an EVGA Z170 FTW which I paired with 16gb of Corsair LPX DDR4 CMK16GX4M2B3000C15.

If I try and run the ram above 2400mhz the PC ends up in a 4C loop and goes no further until I reset the BIOS.

I've made sure the ram is at 1.35V and If I set XMP and down clock the ram to 2400mhz it is fine, but 2500, 2600 etc and I get no boot. I'm running the ram in slots 2 and 4 as recommended. I'm running the latest Bios 2.0 beta also.
Can anyone help?

Your cpu imc may not be able to handle anything past 2400. Have you tried rasing the cpu imc voltage?

What is a safe voltage to take the imc up to?

Ok, IMC I'm taking to be VCCIO on EVGA as nothing is listed as IMC, with some tweaking I can get the system to boot at 2667Mhz RAM, but no higher, with:

VSA: 1.1V (not tried tweaking this yet I just gave it a little more for stability)
VCCIO: 1.1V (Less than this the system will not post above 2400Mhz, setting to 1.35V the system still won't post above 2667Mhz)
CPU PLL 1.15V (any thing less and no post above 2400Mhz, going to 1.3V on this and still no post above 2667Mhz)

Note this is with a non overclocked CPU as i'm working out what the system limits are.

VSA & VCCIO are the ones you're looking to tweak.

Since you said you used XMP 1,  I ask if the setting matched the values on the side of the memory sticks.  Also, in the upper left hand side of BIOS, did the voltage for the memory show the actual value of 1.35 ?  I missed some of these myself.  Next, you did not say what CPU you have.  If it is an i7-6700 and not the i7-6700KB, then (from my experience) some of the 6700s will not support the 1.35 volts and will Not go above 2400mhz (some times 2666mhz).  You must have the 6700K to go higher.  This may apply to other CPUs without the "K"

Hi, ok, I got a 6700k in the system today and boom, XMP 3000Mhz with no tweaks. The CPU was  6600 non-K which wasn't behaving.

Does anyone know about the CPU turbo states? If I max one core/thread the cpu will turbo to 4.2Ghz, but more than that and it stays at 4ghz.

I thought there was a setting that it would turbo all cores, or is that a Z270 feature? Enhanced turbo I think it's called.

There are most likely some power limit settings that need to be maxed out inside the bios. You may also need to set all cores manually to 4.2GHz.

The clocks are the normal setup for the i7. Take a look @ the oc guide in the sticky on top.

Toggle the drop down to Manual sets mine to 4.0 I just bump it to 4.2 all 4cores work

If you are looking to maintain a 4.2ghz clock rate constantly then you must, go to Control Panel / in top right Select small icon VIEW / then click Power Options / Choose or edit your current plan / Change Plan Settings / scroll down to Processor Power Management enter values of 100%

optionally select High Performance Plan and save
