I just had to call my bank to get them to lift the hold on my debit card after trying to buy 32GB of DDR4 and a 1TB Samsung Evo SSD. Not surprising since I just spent $850 on a 5960X..... and I've yet to decide on what to do for a motherboard, wait for the R5E to come back in stock or grab something else. I'm 100% sure I'm going to regret buying all of this but I'm young so I'm allowed to make terrible life decisions, right?

I know the feeling, should have heard the conversation I had when I had three people approach me about building them decent computers. Though they where about to investigate me because at the time I was unemployed and having $1000 deposits and then purchases using almost all said funds .

Yes. You are correct...  but I'm not sure spending too much on a computer would be considered a horrible life decision.  When I hear horrible life decision I usually think of drug addicts, dropping out of school, or deciding to go ahead and marry Ray Rice after he knocks you out cold in an elevator.

You'll be fine...  The worst that could happen would be buyer's remorse...  You'll get over it.

And to think that I'm balking about spending about $6-700 on a used Macbook pro 13" sometime in my near future. Hopefully it'll be a more recent 2012-2013 version but *shrugs* need to funds first. I don't spend a lot on equipment these days. At least not as much as I used to. I probably could support a decent apartment for a year with some of the past purchases I have done.

Lol I wish I only spent that much on my laptop. You could have gotten 2 of those for my laptop (although it's hard calling this Alienware 18 a laptop haha).

That's going to be an awesome set-up.

The R5E is a badass board, but it's extended ATX, so it would require new case for me. This is the board I would want if I had that gear:

I'd love to move over to a haswell-e set-up... but I just dumped all of my funds into my car audio recently. Just got my singer alternator yesterday, can't wait to get it in my car.

It doesn't matter how much or how little I spend. Used to be before Newegg updated their Mastercard verification applet I'd almost always get flagged and get an email from Newegg telling me they couldn't charge the card, then have to go through the verification process with MC and resubmit the info to Newegg after. Boy that was irritating for awhile until they fixed it. Only after the app started working correctly did I realize for years it wasn't displaying and asking for the verification # as it was supposed to be doing, one of the perks of being an Opera browser user!

The R5E is back in stock on the Egg (for now). Just pulled the trigger on one. I think I would have been perfectly fine with a Deluxe but for an extra $100 it seemed worth it. I probably would have bought the Deluxe over the weekend if the R5E didn't get restocked by then though.

My SSD\RAM did get here today though. This should be a pretty epic build...

My last build was an insane amount, but hey, why else do we work? I am scoping out a 5960X, but I have two 4960Xs already that I am considering using for a couple rigs. What am I thinking? Anyway, may do the new builds over the winter. Let me see how my schedule looks. This may be a folding rig or one for my wife, or both.

When you are going to bed, and instead of saying that you are going to bed, you say that you are logging off. I got a bit to close to doing that onc

Edit: ah spend too much on computers, not too much time on computers, my brain edited that in.

Maybe when your PC is 6 years old, but no part of it is that old? I've replaced every single part at least once on my current computer, and have a monitor "collection" (never did get more than one of the exact same type so surround wasn't an option that could work very well, though I have been able to force it to sort of work a time or two, but was very buggy)

for me I would say when you are trying to collect every model of the X58 Classy Series because they were your favorite series.... and just to have them(still looking for a E770 and reasonable SR-2).... and then build an X79 dual Titan Work Station, and start planning for a micro X99 gamer, then fitting in some how... an X79 for the wife...
