A lot of stuff in this update, here's a link (scroll down). Regarding graphics: Graphics - Dynamic Refresh Rate can now be enabled via a toggle. After enablement, Windows dynamically adjusts the refresh rate up to the selected rate to help saving power
- Improved refresh rate logic, allowing different refresh rates on different monitors, depending on the refresh rate for each monitor and content shown on the screen
- While a Dynamic Refresh Rate (DRR) is selected and Battery saver is also enabled, Windows remains at the lower refresh rate and doesn't switch to the higher rate until after Battery saver is disabled
- New options are available for tuning intensity and color boost to the color filters. To do so, open Settings > Accessibility > Color Filters
- A new Color management settings page located under Settings > System > Display > Color management. From this page, you can add or remove color profiles, set default color profiles for the connected displays and configure auto-color management

bdary I've updated 3 systems to 24H2 and it doesn't reinstall video drivers or any drivers I had installed. It installs like any other Windows update, it just takes longer because it's a bigger update. None of my programs/apps or settings were changed or removed, etc. My color management profiles also were not touched during the update.
Hmm maybe I read some incorrect info about it. I thought I had read that it left a temporary for rollbacks 10GB copy of the old 23H2/etc version in a Windows_old type folder for a bit which was the same thing Win10 used to do for the semi-annual updates where it basically installed a new copy of Windows and supposedly silently migrated all your stuff after. It was obvious because on first boot after I'd noticed Nvidia driver components installed that I specifically didn't install when I did the driver install like maybe the HD Audio drivers or it lost per game 3D settings or something (been a while since they did that update type so I can't remember for sure the details) and my color profiles from DisplayCal would be incorrectly assigned or the monitors would even just only have the default ones assigned..

The 24H2 update does create a Windows.old file so a person can rollback, but it doesn't affect any of your settings or drivers. The only exception I can think of possibly is if you were using some fairly old driver & it needed to be updated to support the newer Windows version. I will also add that all my Registry edits as well as my Group policy edits were not changed after the update to 24H2.

Good to know, thanks. MS has a nasty habit of resetting a lot of things like that, as well as privacy settings.

Thanks, yeah I installed it last night and it seemed to go well. I did notice the folder. The only thing I had to deal with was as I figured would happen it wiped out my color management .icm file associations and both monitors had the default ones reinstalled. I just had to go in to the Color Management thing and re-add and set as default etc. Also weirdly Asus Armoury Crate popped up the install notification like when you first install windows on an Asus board and it wants to prompt you to download the latest client from Asus, but it looks like it was still installed and working so not sure what triggered that. Didn't persist after a restart.

Good to hear everything went well. Odd about your .icm profiles. I use different profiles on all my monitors as well and they didn't change. Oh well, easy enough to put them back...

You're welcome. Happy to share my 2 cents. MS does have that habbit, although I don't see it to the extent it was happening in the earlier Windows 10 days. That was a constant battle always having to put things back how I wanted them.
