Just finished the update without any problems and holy sh** thats fast lol, 4 seconds boot time with a Samsung 840 Pro. Thanks again!

Btw if its not working for anyone make sure you disabled CSM under boot options in your UEFI/BIOS.
For Secure Boot keys must be loaded under custom settings and then set it back to standard/default but I can only tell for ASUS Z77 UEFI. Running msinfo32.exe will show if its working properly.

Edit:
My boost clock went down from 1163 to 1150 with this update. The GTX 680 FTW+ 4GB is specified with 1150 Mhz I don't know why mine was at 1163 to begin with . It's a non-issue i'm using precision anyway to run it at 1200 Mhz boost clock.

The ultra fast boot is only working on restarts, not on cold boot. I still see the "press del to enter setup" text on cold boots. When restarting it goes right to that circle/points animation from Windows 8. Its alright this way because otherwise I wouldn't be able to enter the UEFI/BIOS anymore.

Why no official release, are there still compatibility issues with the current version?  How far off is the official release?

This is the official version, we are just only offering it on a case by case basis because of the compatibility issues with older motherboards.

I got that email 18 hours ago but still nothing has been received. :/

I have a small question;

I have an UEFI compliant mobo (Asrock Z77 Pro4). Entering the BIOS shows me the UEFI SETUP UTILITY in the upper part of the screen. However, I just noticed that my Windows 8 Pro 64-bit boots with BIOS mode, not UEFI. Is this a problem for enabling Ultra Fast boot?

Windows 8 needs to be installed in UEFI mode with GUID Partition Table (GPT). Open disk management and check if you got a small 100 MB EFI partition on Disk 0. If you installed in old MBR mode you have to reinstall Windows 8 for UEFI features.

I just checked and it says 350 mb NTFS on Disk 0. So I need to reformat my harddisk? If yes, isn't there any option to switch to UEFI boot option? Or is the GPT also required?

"I just checked and it says 350 mb NTFS on Disk 0"
That is the Windows recovery partition.

"isn't there any option to switch to UEFI boot option"
No.

"Or is the GPT also required"
Yes, GPT is required for booting Windows in UEFI mode.

To install Windows in UEFI mode put in the Windows install disk and press F11 on system post to get the boot menu on your ASRock Z77 Pro4 MB then select the UEFI boot option for your DVD drive.

V3DTech: I know it is a pain to do but could you do a full system backup, allow win 8 to re install and setup the partitions as needed, then restore that partition with your windows install? Alignment might be an issue on SSDs though

I am sure there are ways it could be done but is it worth the trouble? Just making a backup of your data and reinstalling Windows and your programs seems simpler, easier, and cleaner.

That is unless you have a ton of stuff installed and it's all working perfect the way it is now.
In that case it might be better that you just leave it the way it is now until you come to a point in time where you need to reinstall windows for one reason or a other, then you could go UEFI boot.

Thanks Jacob, the update went through fine as expected. That said, both of my cards have dropped by 26Mhz from what they were with the 'normal' 4B vBIOS?

Anyone else seen this? Confirmed with both Heaven and 3DMark11.

Secondly and this is slightly off-topic but if you're one of those people who've modded you're RST OROM so you get TRIM in RAID0 (ie: Z68 boards) you might want to double check if it still works because the OROM is now 11.5.0.1582 (TRIM works fine in RAID0 on Z77 board still).

I did not see any drop. I was getting 1228 max before and I am still seeing that.

Never mind.  It works now.

EVGA_JacobF

We are now offering it on a case by case basis, if you would like the UEFI BIOS you can contact me directly or our support.

Before putting in the request, make sure of the following:
  1. Have the latest BIOS for the motherboard.
  2. Make sure motherboard is full UEFI complaint. (Most boards after Sandy Bridge are, but may need BIOS update)

I assumed I should PM you with the request.  When I did so, I got:

You won't be able to send PMs until you have ...
  • been a member for at least 5 day(s);
  • made a total of 10 post(s);
  • earned at least 0 point(s) for post scores (based on the ratings on your posts);
  • earned at least 0 reward point(s); You have been a member since 11/6/2012, with 10 posts, a score of 0, and 0 reward points.

  •
    Which ought to be good.  But, I couldn't PM you.  My 10 posts were done mere minutes ago, though.  Could that be the issue?
