https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-kicks-off-the-rollout-of-the-windows-10-may-update-1903/

It's technically "late May." So it's not too surprising that Microsoft's promised late May rollout of the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (also known as 1903) is kicking off today, May 21.

As of  today, mainstream consumer and business users who want to manually download and install the May feature update may do so. The May 2019 Update/1903 is available on WSUS, Windows Update for Business as of today. Users who aren't already on Windows 10 1809 (either because they weren't "offered" it or didn't proactively grab it) will be able to just skip over 1809 and go straight to 1903, since Windows 10 feature updates are cumulative.

I'll update my PC later this evening.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Ran a test today on Win updates on two different machines.   Both on Win 10 x 64 bit PRO ...

One updated up to build 1809 , I kept hitting check for updates 3 times afterwards - restarting machine in between each time - and told me 1809 was fully up to date...?...

Other machine went to 1803 , I ran same 3x check for updates afterwards - restarting machine in between - and this one said 1803 was fully up to latest build ...?? ...

Microshaft still has no idea what they are doing with updates.......!!   manually hitting the check for updates is supposed to bypass any roll out restrictions, yet I get different results, different versions with each machine.

They really need to clean out their house over there.....

I was going to originally wait for it to show up by checking within Settings > Windows Update but decided to download Update Assistant instead.

Until Microsoft updates the servicing component, it's virtually impossible to upgrade Windows via USB stick due to the removable storage issue.

Wednesday, I was updating a slow AMD notebook and it took the whole day to install via the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant.

I burned a DVD with both x86 and x64 to circumvent the USB upgrade issue for now, but it's really inconvenient right now.

Shortly after I wrote a suggestion on Microsoft's page where the MCT is, they updated their web page to circumvent this. To use the MCT, copy the files from the stick or ISO to the local disk and run the setup file. With experience, refrain from running the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant. It takes considerably longer to upgrade Windows.

Finally I am being given the option to update to 1903 now if I wish.
Pretty comprehensive summary of the changes detailed here.
Anyone having any problems with it? Thoughts? I'm guessing all the privacy settings etc. get changed back to what MS wants...

    Nereus...

Only thing I would check with the update...under power management...with a laptop...there should be two sets for brightness...one for "on battery" and one for "plugged in".  1809 broke that for me on my MSI PE-70 6QE.  Brightness settings could not be changed and brightness was the same for both power states.  I had to revert to 1803 to get it to work again.  Plugged in, I keep the laptop at 100% brightness and on battery I run brightness at 55%.  It does save on battery time.  Not sure what to expect from 1903, so I have yet to upgrade my laptop...

Thanks for that. My laptop seems to be ok on 1809, but Windows Update isn't giving me the option to update to 1903. The link that EyeDeeNo provided just above (thanks!) lists a couple of items that might be stopping my laptop being offered the 1903 update. I think I'm going to hold off updating my desktop for now and let MS get their crap together (as much as they can).

After updating reinstall your motherboard chipset drivers from the manufacturer and the latest graphics drivers.

On the older motherboards you'll probably have to use what Microsoft provides if there is no equivalent driver from the manufacturer.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Up to 11 in production and the only issue I have so far is our P52s laptops tell us that we need to switch to a different thunderbolt port. Ah that imaginary second thunderbolt port.

No other application issues to report. Giving it another week before pushing more out. I feel like I just got all my 10 machines on 1809 since I found out the techs were using a 1703 thumbdrive to rebuild instead of using the images on fog. Facepalm.

Upgraded to Windows 10 version 1903 about two weeks ago with no issues to report. The first minor update for version 1903 was released a couple days ago, with no issues.

Fool me once, shame on you.

I had a utterly miserable experience with 1903, am back to using 1809 and linux until Microsoft gets its crud together.

Do see an Intel chipset driver for X58/Win10...

Was able to use Intel Chipset INF Utility with Asus X58...

Can you please reply with a direct link for the Intel chipset drivers for the X58 (Windows 10). Thanks. I haven't been able to find it.

And, the Intel Driver & Support Assistant says I have the latest, lol.

Thanks all. I'll do my laptop first then. :)

My laptop was eventually offered the update and is now running 1903 with zero issues so far (touch wood), but I have not updated my desktop yet. Anyone still having any issues with 1903, or it's pretty much good to go now?

1903 seems fine - but I do run a fairly minimalistic OS , in terms of open running processes .
