WCzaplakI was waiting out on getting a new graphics card since my little 1080Ti is still going fairly strong, but I've had this since 2017 and if this thing dies, I'm screwed. With that being a slight worry here, I was watching the stocks of the normal 3080 and when the rumors of the slight memory bump to 12gb started floating around I was going to wait around for that since I hoped that it wasn't going to be a huge bump in price. Well a $450 bump is way more than I'm willing to spend, I'm back to now wondering if the normal 3080 queue will open back up again or is that a dead dream all together? I was looking at the normal 3080 or the hybrid at most since you guys already charge way over MSRP for the card as it is (I'm running the hybrid 1080ti now and like it). I'm starting to think that I'm never going to get the standard 3080 anymore and going to be forced into this 12gb card or wait out to start the wait all over with the 4k series card. Please don't die on me 1080... I needed youz!
kevinc313 Your best bet is to physically camp a Best Buy or Microcenter drop, or get an Ant Online bundle, for a 3080. NE shuffle is a long shot though possibly better in the last few weeks with mining profits being down. Imho a 3080 Ti FTW3 bundle for a bit over $1600 is worth it, it's considerably stronger than a 3080.

03whitegsrI would bet the 3080 10G will be discontinued all together. They probably stopped making them a bit ago and have just been using up the last of the chips made. Actually, didn't Nvidia stop making chips a couple months ago saying they have "filled all their obligations for 2021"?They probably changed the etcher to print the new part number and started cutting off a few less CUs back then and have been making the new versions since then?
gsrcrxsiThe dream isn’t gone completely. I just bought a 3080FTW3 card today from the EVGA queue. And it’s even FHR.

I do believe some LHR 3080 went out under the KR nomenclature. If it says "LHR" or "LowHash Rate" on the outside of the box, then it is LHRIf LHR is not printed on the box then it is FHR.

But all 3080 LHR skus have been KL. This is a 3080 KR.

I think the signs were pointing to this towards the end of 2021 and then with the release of the 12GB, that seems to be more likely. They're most likely just going to upgrade the current line up to +2GB and then release the S-versions in a couple of months
WCzaplakIdk what the LHR or FHR means but I havent seen a notify me button on this site in months and I doubt with my peasant score of 0 (even then though I have a bunch of stuff registered to my account going back years) then I dont count for anything to them. whatever.
firerain LHR = light hash rate, FHR = full hash rate. LHR are nerfed card for mining. In my opinion a really scummy move by NVIDIA that does not solve anything but just a gimmick. Miners still buy the cards and virtually it does nothing useful but hurt the hobby miner who just mines on their gaming pc.

If anything it drove the prices for FHR cards up even higher.

aka_STEVE_bI believe that Nvidia has already begun winding down making the original 3080 chip to sell to vendors.... it's much more profitable to sell them the newer, more expensive version.

HoggleI personally think it's kind of needed still because of the price jump from a 3070Ti to a 3080 12GB. If they get rid of the 3080 you open up to AMD a $999 price point.
