I like detailed realistic graphics, nothing too cartoonish. Fairly simple game play, gun-n-run kind of stuff, but with a decent story line. I used to like the Deus-Ex and fallout games. Fallout was a bit cartoonish, it was still fun. It's becoming rare from what I understand, but I liked the cheat codes that I could access through the console (~). I used those so that I could explore the world unencumbered by constant death. Load up the minigun with unlimited ammo and mow the grass.

Yup, thanks. I played the first Far Cry back in the day and it was good. I remember the original Wolfenstein back when the graphics were pretty basic compared to now. I'll check them out.

I sure have been eyeballing Far Cry 5. Watched some vids on it and it looks good. Was hoping Steam would have it on sale during the Steam Summer sale and it wasn't.

If you want to go that far back the original Crysis was pretty good.

The Graphics aren't great anymore, but I liked Half-Life and Half-life 2 back in the day..

If you want to go that far back the original Crysis was pretty good.
I had the original Crysis, but had trouble getting it to play with Win10. Probably needed to play it in compatibility mode but when I reinstalled it, it wanted to connect itself to the Steam App. I tossed the disk a couple months ago.

STALKER: shadow of Chernobyl is, and always will be, the best for me. Despite the rough edges it's a beautiful and horrifying realisation of a very clever concept. Nothing else comes close in terms of atmosphere. The prequel (Clear Sky) was better for graphics and the sequel (call of Pripyat) was also pretty good but SoC was so shockingly good and such a different take on what an FPS could/should be that they were always going to be a bit of a let-down. Still better than 90%+ of the FPS games out there though. I'm waiting patiently for STALKER 2. Please don't be crap... please don't be crap... please don't be crap!!!

I was gonna say the hunter call of the wild...that's not really what you are looking for though. Meets my requirements for first person shooter though :)

Really it also depends on what you like in a world. Seems with the games mentioned you like games that let you pick a path then shooters that push you on a path. Far Cry 5 would be a great pick I think for the open world feel.

More old games remastered are a waste of time and money if one already owns it, but i guess people like you get awfully bored with nothing else to do.
