The AORUS Master is definitely a solid board, but it's a bit light in the ports department, and from what I've seen it has the same M.2/SATA port stuff going on that the Z390 does.  The MSI board may be overpriced, but it's not like I'm going to be upgrading again for at least 2 years so yeah...

I know you're leaning more 5900/5950 at this point, but I will mention something about the 10850k. I tried to find the article, but was struggling. I remember reading that the 10850k, while only 100MHz lower stock, was a much worse CPU as it has worse silicon that makes it run hotter, at higher voltage, and slower. If you want to OC at all, it will have limited room. It was a scenario where it ran hotter at a lower speed than the 10900k and that seemed to be entirely why it was binned the way it was. They're a great deal financially right now and I would bet not a bad chip at all, but for OC....I'd pay the extra for the 10900k.

6Q6CPFHPBPCU691 is a discount code anyone can use.

Yeah same thing with the 11700K.  No good silicon because if they were, they would be a 11900K.

I'm having to resist the urge to just order a 3900x or something along those lines as a temporary thing to get the swap over with until the 5900x/5950x comes in stock at MSRP.

Might do that next week if things don't come in stock, after I get paid again on Tuesday.

Keep an eye on R/Hardware Swap and eBay. Remember to try to factor in taxes in the auction/sale prices.

Look at that price.  No way in hades I'm paying that much unless it smashes a 5800x in to dust.  Guess that settles that, X570/5900x is most likely de wae.

The Dark Hero is an awesome board, especially if you intend to overclock.

Problem with most of the Asus boards right now is they're out of stock everywhere.

I'm taking a serious second look at the Gigabyte AORUS Master X570 because it's a good bit cheaper than the creation, still has a good amount of USBs etc - I'd just have to buy a separate M.2 card, which isn't a huge deal.

3950x for $724 then $15 off code... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  Tempting.

Edit: Just found out the Gigabyte board can be flashed with no BIOS installed, meaning it can go straight to a 5000-series with just a simple Q-Flash.  Eggcellent.

I'm gunning for z490-e gaming or aorus ultra for 10850k but feedback on problems with cpu temp are concerning. Some say it runs fine, others that it's an oven.

I am currently still on an Gigabyte X79-UD5 from 2011, with a 4930K OC'ed to 4.2Ghz (slight upgrade from 3930k or at least was supposed to be, it was worth a shot). I don't dare to explicitly state it's still working fine.. I am somewhat superstitious when it comes to my main PC, but... you know

Z490 would be cheaper & more stable  ... losing out on only pcie 4.0 really.

That is currently true however... Gigabyte announced that all Z490 motherboards featuring PCIe 4.0 hardware design can support the 11th Gen Intel Core processors by an update to the latest F20 BIOS and get the full bandwidth of 4.0 GPUs and SSDs. This is the reason I went with the lower end i5. It was a substantial upgrade from my i5 2500k but not too expensive. I can upgrade the CPU later and get the PCIe 4.0.

Sounds like a smart move. Thanks for the idea.

I would hold off on AMD until end of year they have the x670 chipset and a new 5nm 6000 series chip coming out, I am going to hold out for that new series myself Intel has cut back on core count but prices still high.
