Hi all I'm a wee bit stuck in thoughts about what to buy. I am looking at the choice of the new Intel 9800X cpu for the X299 dark motherboard that I have or a RTX 2070 Ultra Gaming card.

The new RTX 2070 will be going into the rig that I am using just now (specs in my sig) it would be replacing a EVGA GTX 680 Classified

Or if I go with the 9800X it will go into the X299 dark that I won at the end/start of this year and I would be moving all of the parts from the rig in my sig over to the X299 platform

I'm just stuck at a fork in the road as to which way to go

EVGA 1070Ti FTW 2

I would sell the X299 motherboard. Go with whatever video card you want. The Z270 has a lot of life left in it. I would probably look for a nice mid tower case. A full tower case is overkill for a single GPU setup.

To me it would depend on what you DO with your Rig....gaming? the X299 really isn't worth it...the Z270 is...but if you multimedia edit and such...yeah, X299...

I would say a GPU upgrade would be most effective. That's a pretty nice offer from above.

I would surely upgrade the GPU to a RTX 2070 and possibly the SSD or to a M.2 since the prices have finally dropped.

Keep your current setup, get a good gpu. be it a 1080/1070 TI FTW2 iCX or the new cards. If you are playing at 1440p I would suggest the 1080 FTW2 iCX or the 1070 TI FTW. If you are playing at 4k go with the 1080 TI or one of the new 2080 cards. I love AMD cards, and their software over nvidia. But once you get a game with gameworks, going with AMD for the gpu is the utter pita on a lot of games sadly.
