Noob question I know. The pavilion is a good deal on a budget but only has a 180w psu. What psu can I upgrade it with so I can use something more powerful than the nvidia geforce gt 1030 ddr5 graphics card?

In a nutshell, none..An HP Pavilion TP01-1016 has a proprietary (non-standard) PSU and motherboard (as many pre-builts do), meaning that it won't accept any industry-standard ATX PSU such as from EVGA, Corsair, Seasonic, etc.

You might be able to make an industry-standard ATX PSU work if you know what you're doing, which would involve any or all of: drilling new PSU mounting holes, repinning connectors, and the use of connector/cable adapters.

See How to Open and Upgrade an HP Pavilion with a 10th Generation Intel i5-10400 (TP01-1016) on YouTube..The PSU is discussed at the 5:53 mark.
