Uploaded with ImageShack.us this was running at standard clock speed with a spotless clean case and well ventilated. seems it could barely maintain its clock. not to mention is has chronic video driver crashes.

That looks like bad vram... However, I would recommend a full driver reinstall per Maniaccc's driver reinstallation guide. I know this may sound beyond stupid, but stuff happens, this could just be a random driver hiccup... Although, don't disclude the possibility of bad vram. Does it artifact prior to booting into windows? Is this graphical issue present all the time, or just occasional events?

First off, a fellow EVE Online nerd, whoo \o/ Secondly, yeah, it looks like a problem with the VRAM. It shouldn't be having those issues with temps either, hopefully the RMA will sort it out.

So here is a lame update evga is trying to send me a reference 680 with 4gb of vram andf claiming it will be a faster performing card than my gtx 680 ftw 2gb for 1080p gaming this is a joke.... and then say the vapor chamber and power phases of my ftw have no bearing on what I get for a replacement this is bs. All I want is a different ftw 2gb but apparently they have discontinued it.

No its not everyone online says upgrading from 2gb to 4gb makes no diffrence at 1080p which is all I run. Im losing a vapor chamber 8 power phase core clock mem clock and gain 4gb vram lower core clock lower memory clock less power phases no vapor chamber cooling the rep claims i can overclock this card to my ftw the level but it wont run as cool or as efficiently. They are not upgrading me to the ftw 4gb but downgrading me to the reference card with 4gb ...

Maybe the 2GB will be sufficient now, but games in the next year even at just 1080p will use more than 2GB VRAM on high-max settings. I game at 1080p and I'm going to pick up a couple 770 classified 4GBs or 680 4GB Classifieds because I don't plan on upgrading until the 800 series and games will use a lot of VRAM by then. It would be very easy to overclock to FTW or even Classified levels and it would run just as well, especially considering the FTW isn't overclocked out of easy reach to just do yourself. Once you do that, you'll have a better card that will last you longer. As for the power phases, that will only really be useful in higher overclocking (although they may reduce heat a little bit, the pros of a 4GB card would outweigh those of a 2GB FTW. Especially if you're looking for a card to last you longer into the future)

I understand that you feel it isn't an acceptable replacement. It is unfortunate they are discontinued, but that is a risk for the specialty cards. They are doing the right thing offering an upgrade, at least from a dollar perspective. Plus you will have higher resale.

I usually upgrade every gen and pick up the latest 80 revision so future proofing a video card doesn't help me much. This card will run hotter no vapor chamber and less phases which means louder and doesn't have the same overclock potential as my ftw if it didn't have issues. Which is why I bought a ftw ..... I buy power supplies cases and motherboards for future proofing that's it. i would prefer something that has higher frame rates now than it will down the road. I would be happy if they could just do a direct replacement of my card which they cant seem to do .... EDIT: I also don't sell my cards I generally hand them down.

Your desktop screenshot is horrifying Take the 4gig card and run the fan hard, if you plan on running like that *do a +451 mem offset on the new card... expect it to die as well.

What do you mean ? Are you suggesting I take the new card run a high overclock and burn it up ? Not to mention I hate the really high fan speed on the card it sound like it going to take off and fly from my desk.

The reason your card failed is the condition you are running it in.... From your screenshot you would appear to have half your 2gig Vram loaded from just the browser, are running dual monitors, playing a game and watching Netflix... All with the fan turned down because you dont like the noise... Running in this manner has killed your card *the OC reference I made was to your previous post (below) with a +451 memory offset

The card never broke 70C because it ALWAYS crashed at 69c I have the fan kick up to 85% at 65C to make sure that doesn't happen. As for putting to much load on the card ? I upgraded from a 580 that I would run 2 eve clients maxed out play netflix and have extra tabs open and never had any issues in the 3-4 years I owned that thing felt like it ran circles around this one as far as multitasking goes. This card would crash running a youtube video with nothing else open sometimes I put up with it til this happened. As for the image I killed my overclock completely after that thread after I figured out it wasn't worthwhile on my card. Also as for my old 580 its still running strong in a friends computer while mine is having issues ...

Agreed the 580 were awesome, but the 600 series is a different beast... not to mention that things have greatly changed with browser loading issues, and the security issues when running what appears to be every bank and bank account you have open in the browser -cannot- be overstated All I am trying to say is that the screenshot you posted was horrifying, given the -current- state of browser loading issues, and the programs and processes they run. Just because something worked in the past, does not mean it will continue to do so forever. A 4gig card would be perfect for the loading conditions you appear to have As for stability, you are unlikely to find it with -any- card running in the manner posted given todays current browser environment.

So your saying I fried my card with 69c temps ? And as for the person that has my 580 they do the exact same thing I do but slightly lower graphics settings on and is still running strong I never though a more advanced card would have issues ...

You appear to have no understanding of what goes on in the background for -each- tab you have open. As I posted, there have been -huge- changes in the way webpages operate and the things that are going on in the background when they are open. For stability, security and videocard performance the less overhead the better For just browsing its not the end of the world.... When adding in game clients and fullscreen video, serious issues and problems are very likely to occur. When running only a 2gig videocard in such a manner, serious Vram stress is a given.

Because at best I could sell it for $400 and then I would have to come up with a extra $250-300 which I can't do. I just ordered a ps4 and I'm starting college backup this fall working two jobs so I can do that. Not to mention I wait til they drop in price 1 or two times.
