I am pretty sure that it is monitor related, but I have a 1080Ti and it could be the card. I noticed some weird vertical lines, that do not cover the whole screen, they are very tight together and appear at random. They usually only appear in Battlefront 2, but could have sworn that I saw them on the desktop today and I did notice them in Intel Extreme Tuning Utility a couple times. I can not get them to reproduce anymore. I used to be able to get it to show up in Battlefront 2 on one of the loading screens.

I have been recording games since this morning trying to capture it. I have also been trying to catch it on my phone, this has been to no avail. However, just a few minutes ago I was recording the game, with the XBOX app game dvr, and it happened for several seconds on the score screen. I went back and watched the video and it was not on the video. Does this mean that the issue is related to the monitor? I tried three different displayport cables and it show up with all three cables (so that eliminates a bad cable). If it was hardware related to my computer itself, it would have shown up on the video, right?

Not sure.. the recording may of been at a different frame rate then the card was running.. if so it may not show up.

I had a card that artifacted when it was starting to die. It was the only card that did not last me more than two years and it was a MSI GTX 260,  when it artifacted I got lots of spots on my screen that looked like dead pixels but they would constantly move across the screen especially when I would move really fast in games, then eventually the entire screen flashed random colors and the card died.  You'll know if its artifacting it'd be very obvious.

Sounds like screen tearing to me. Do you have v-sync off?

Definitely not tearing. I know what that looks like. I'm trying to get a video on my phone, but now it wont do it where I wss able to replicate it before. It is really obvious when it does happen.

Do you notice the issue when using the other outputs on the card?

Does lowering the resolution to 120Hz help?

Was going to try my PG278q and see if it still has issues, but it is on a monitor arm. The issue is really hit and miss and never happens while actually playing the game.

Sure, but if it works that means the monitor is defective. After all, it should run at 240.

I had the same issue with an Asus PG278QR monitor and had to RMA it and what a terrible process it was with Asus. I dread doing another through Asus and I actually wish EVGA made high refresh rate monitors...

That's what I am afraid of. I hate dealing with Asus and their RMA process. I also got a near perfect panel, no bad light bleed and no pixel issues. I am afraid to see what I get back with an RMA...

Yes it did.  It would do it in a variety of different games then it would suddenly flash on and off as well.  And when browsing it got really bad and it would get ripples.  I honestly for one dont recommend Asus monitors, EVGA get into the monitor game!!! Please!

Hooked up my PG278Q and so far no issue... I need more time with it to determine no issue though, as the problem was not consistent. It was not happening all the time. I am guessing a loose connection? Or, maybe that Gsync module is going bad. I honestly probably won't buy another Gsync monitor, it seems pretty much anything that Nvidia makes that is not a graphics card is low quality junk. Just my opinion though.

That's why I buy the extended warranty from microcenter when I got my last 2 monitors from them!! Used one already after a year! Full money back and used it towards the next one. $80 bucks.. well worth it

So far no issues with the 278q. I'll run this one for probably a week and it there is no issue start the dreadful RMA process through ASUS. I was almost hoping it was a graphics card issue, as EVGA's RMA process is the best that I have ever dealt with.

The gsync module has nothing to do with those issues. It’s the panel or the display port cable itself. If it’s not a VESA certified cable you can run into many display issues in itself. I have never once heard of a bad gsync module and even if it was going bad it only acts like vsync so I don’t see how it’d give a real life issue

I think my display port cable was not going in the port all the way. I went to hook the monitor back up to do some more troubleshooting before sending it off to Asus. When I was plugging the monitor back in, the cable would click and feel like it was all the way in. However, I took a look, just in case, and there was some metal showing. I then re-positioned the cable and reinserted it, while actually looking at the cable going in this time, and sure enough the cable did go much further in the port this time. So far, no issues. I guess time will only tell.

Well that would do it lmao, I did that my first time too, DisplayPort cables are funky when they go into the ports when your used to dvi ports or HDMI ports it’s different for sure. If you run into further issues I’d check the quality of the cable, the cable Asus sent with my display was junk and didn’t hold up very long before it gave me issues. I had to buy a high quality DisplayPort cable to avoid further issues
